7 Days To Die: What To Do At Night

In the open world survival game 7 Days To Die, you can define day and night duration before spawning into the map. You can roam around, explore and casually harry in the daylight, however things can get difficult, especially for beginners, at night as visibility is low during these hours and most zombies can run.

What to do at night in 7 Days To Die

While you can pass the dark hours by creating a Bedroll (using 10 Plant Fibers) and sleeping through the night, there are many other simple but effective activities you can do to make use of your time in the world.

Build and upgrade your base

To survive the seventh night in 7 Days To Die, you must build a durable fortress that can keep the horde of zombies at bay. I recommend using the previous nights to expand your base and upgrade it with good defenses and traps. Collect stronger materials to strengthen your base; for example, collect resources to create concrete blocks or paving for walls, because they are better than wood.

Craft utilities for the next day

During the night, you can do all the boring stuff like create new items, cook, boil water, smelt and forge. Although these tasks are not that pleasant, you must learn and practice them to survive your days in the hostile world. You can also use the in-game journal to learn more about your environment and what abilities you will need to use during the night hours.

Sort your inventory

If you don’t feel like working too much, the least you can do is sort the items in your inventory. Keep the necessary and most used items in your backpack and store the others in drawers and storage boxes.

Upgrade tools and weapons

If your gear has been through some wear and tear, use the night to repair them. You should also use these hours to craft better tools for the next few days, modify your weapons, and craft a lot of ammo.

Mining for resources

You can dig a mine shaft and mine through the nights to get stone and clay to improve your base walls with paving. Digging a deep tunnel will lead you to precious mineral ores such as iron, nitrate, coal, lead and shale, all of which can be used to create utilities such as tools and ammunition for your weapons.

Go out hunting and looting buildings

While the aforementioned activities are tasks you can do in the safety of your base, I also suggest traveling the world but only with proper gear. Make sure you have good weapons that you know how to use, and most importantly, a good light source like a flashlight or torch. Night vision goggles are the ultimate tool for the night but turning up your glare can help too. You can go hunting, kill zombies for their loot, chop down trees for wood and raid nearby POIs for resources.
