Act 4 Ascension walkthrough – MW3 Zombies

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies received its final story mission with the Season 5 Reloaded update. The Act IV Ascension mission concludes the MWZ Dark Aether lore, and we’ll soon be getting a prequel with Black Ops 6 Zombies. Here’s a complete walkthrough of the mission where you fight The Entity.

Before entering a match, make sure you’re properly equipped with level three armor plate, a large backpack, self-revival kits, essential Perk-a-Colas, and an equipped weapon. As you can see in the picture above, I went in fully prepared with all this equipment and even wore a Legendary Ethereal Tool and Flawless Aetherium Crystal to max Pack-a-Punch my weapon right off the bat.

If you have these items in your stash, this is the best time to use them; otherwise, you can spend time getting these upgrades during the match by completing missions and earning Essence. For lethality and tactics, I suggest going with the usual Throwing Knife and Bait Grenada as usual. Besides, I was wearing The Scorcher Case like this wondrous weapon, because it helped me traverse the Dark Aether with ease.

How to start the Act 4 Ascension Mission in MW3 Zombies

Once in the match, go straight to the Tier 3 Threat Zone if you came prepared with all the gear. Reach the extraction indicator in Old Town (see the picture above) and you will find a portal there. Interact with it to start voting for the mission to enter the anomaly. If possible, I suggest waiting for other players to join to make your squad bigger, which will make the mission much easier.

You will then appear in the Dark Aether zone where Dr. Jansen and Ravenov will be waiting for you. Your first goal here is to confront the Entity by finding a way to weaken it. For that, you have to visit the two energy sourcesone after the other. You can identify these areas of interest with the yellow light beam (see image above).

To traverse the Dark Aether zone, you can use the blue empty crystals which are basically jump pads. If you see red crystalsshoot them like I showed in the picture above to turn them into blue void crystals. Alternatively, you can also use The Burn wonder weapon easy to move if you brought one.

How to find and clear the remains in MW3 Zombies

  • Call of Duty MW3 Zombies relic piece
  • Call of Duty MW3 Zombies power source

Now, reach either of the two power sources by following the beam of light. In that area, you will have to search and collect four relics like the one shown in the picture above. After all the relics are collected, go to the pillar and hold the interact button when the Activate Clear a prompt appears (see the second image). To clean up the relics, Dr. Jansen will deal with the power source while your task is to kill some zombies.

After the first power source is dealt with, move on to the next one and repeat the same process (ie, collect four relics and activate cleansing). This time, however, the relics will scatter mid-cleansing. You will then have to collect the three possessed relics. These items will float around, so you’ll need to use the jump pads (empty crystals) to parachute down and collect them.

How to climb the tower to reach the Entity

The next step in the Ascension Act IV mission is go up the tower to reach the Entity. Again, rely on the void crystals, The Scorcher’s awesome weapon and ziplines to reach the top of the tower. Then make it through the branded portal (see image above). Next, go through a series of floating rocks to reach the ship in the sky

Enter the portal on the ship and you will be taken to the final stage where the final boss can be found (see image above). Parachute to the floating rocks in the sky and get ready to destroy the Entity. Wait for Dr. Jansen to summon the enemy and when it arrives, start fighting it together with your squad members.

You can damage the Entity by shooting at the shining orbs (critical parts) on its body as I have shown in the picture above. Meanwhile, you’ll also have to fend off zombies that spawn around you. Keep jumping back and forth between the floating rocks using the empty crystals and keep damaging the boss.

The Entity also has a few tricks up its sleeves. It will often come loose targeted strikes on certain rocks and you will have to avoid it (see image above). Also, beware of the laser beams it shoots at you and the purple orbs who attack you aggressively. Once you have fully depleted the boss’s health bar, a reward will appear for you to loot. Surprisingly, the Entity then reappears at full health and you will have to defeat it again; but there is a twist.

The Entity will be immune to damage and to make it vulnerable, you will need to kill zombies near Dr. Jansen to feed her powers, just like you did earlier at the energy sources. The medic will then launch a beam of energy at the boss making it vulnerable and that’s when you start shooting at its critical parts. Repeat this process a few more times and you will succeed in removing the Entity for good.

Loot the reward slot to get Mr. Peeks (item required to unlock the new Repeatable Dark Aether Rift). Finally, use the exit slot to extract from the Dark Aether and complete the Act 4 Ascension Mission. You will then see a cutscene that ends the MWZ storyline, for now.
