All Armor Trim Locations in Minecraft
Armor Trims are customization options for Armor that add 16 different looks to the armor. Each of these mods can be found in different places, so I’m going to show you where to find each Armor mod in Minecraft.
How to get Armor Trims in Minecraft – All Armor Trim Locations
Armor Trims can be found in chests at specified dangerous locations in Minecraft. The boxes will contain something called a Forge Template, which is used to apply specific armor trimming. Some Armor Trims will take several steps to find, while others will only require you to find the structure they reside in.
In this guide, I’ll let you know where to find all 18 Armor Trim Smithing Templates, including those found in the Tricky Trials update, and how you can get them yourself.
Bolt Armor Trim
The Bolt Armor Trim is the first of two new Armor Trims in the Tricky Trials update. Its Armor Trim Template is found deep underground in the new Trial Chambers. The first way to get it is by encountering it in one of the many reward chests scattered around the Trial Room. The second way to get it is by taking on a Trial Spawner, beating it, and using the Trial Key to open a Vault containing the Bolt Armor Trim Smithing Template.
Coastal Armor Trim
As the name implies, the Coastal Armor Ornament can be found inside Shipwrecks. They are one of the most common ocean structures in Minecraft, giving players plenty of opportunities to get their first Armor Trim. The Coastal Armor Ornament can be found in any of the three possible chests that Shipwrecks can spawn with.
Dune Armor Trim
As with the Coastal Armor Trim, the name of this pattern gives away where it is located. Dune Armor Trim Templates can only be found in the chests at the bottom of Desert Temples. If you haven’t explored one of these temples before, you have to carefully dig through the floor to get to the chests. Players who are not careful enough will fall through the floor and set off the TNT trap near the treasure.
Eye Armor Trim
The Eye Armor Trim is one of our favorites, but if you play Minecraft the conventional way, you’ve got a while until you find this one. This Forge Template is located in Fortifications, probably in the Library or the Altar chests. I recommend using Eyes of Ender to find a Keep, then searching for the Final Portal and this template at the same time.
Flow Armor Trim
The Flow Armor Trim is the second Armor Trim added to Minecraft 1.21. It is much harder to get than the Bolt Armor Trim because it requires players to get the Bad Omen effect and take on a Bad Trial. After receiving an Ominous Trial Key, players can receive the Flux Armor in the next Ominous Vault they open. It’s not guaranteed, but as you keep doing worse Trials, you’ll eventually find this pattern.
Host Armor Trim
The Host Armor Trim Pattern is one of several only found in Trail Ruins structures Players must brush the suspicious gravel discovered in these ruins to unearth this Forge Pattern. It has about an 8% chance of being in a suspicious gravel block.
Raiser Armor Trim
The Raiser Armor Trim is another archeology-based Armor Trim only found inside Trail Ruins. It has an 8.3% chance to appear after brushing Suspicious Gravel. If you’re looking to quickly collect a bunch of Armor Trims, getting the Raiser and other Trail Ruins Armor Trims is a great route to take.
Rib Armor Trim
In the Bottom, Lower Fortifications is one of the most dangerous places. Unfortunately, these Forts are also home to the elusive Rib Armor Trim Smithing Template. It’s one of the most dangerous places Armor Trims can be found in, so you’ll need to be extra careful. Search a Nether Fortress chest carefully for the template and quickly retreat once you’ve found it.
Sentinel Armor Trim
The Sentry Armor Trim Smithing Pattern can be found at Thieves Outposts. You’ll have to fight through waves of Thieves to check the chest at the top of the outpost for this Forge Template. Since there is only one chest in each Thief Outpost, this is one of the harder patterns to find.
Silence Armor Trim
The Silence Armor Trim Smithing Template is one of the many treasures found within Ancient Cities. They can be found in any of the chests scattered throughout the city. Just be careful not to wake the Guard while you sneak.
Shaper Armor Trim
The Shaper Armor Trim is the third of the four major archeology-based Armor Trims. It is found only inside Trails Ruins structures Like the other tweaks, it has an 8.3% chance of being removed from Suspicious Gravel.
Muzzle Armor Trim
Spawning in perhaps the most dangerous Bottom location, Snout Armor Trim Smithing Templates appear in Bastion Remains. They are more common in the Hoglin Stable variant of the Bastion Remnant chests. While looking for this one, stop by Nether Fortress for the Rib Armor Trim Smithing Template.
Breathe Armor Trim
Perhaps one of the last Armors you will find is the Spire Armor Trim, which is located in the chests in End towns. Some claim that they are more likely to spawn on ships (and near Elytras), but we cannot confirm this. Decorate your armor with it to celebrate your victory against the Ender Dragon!
Tide Armor Trim
The Tidal Armor Ornament is a rare drop from Elder Guardians. They only have a 20% chance to drop this Smithing Template, so you may have to remove at least 5 to get it. To do this, you will have to constantly fight against these strong mobs or work hard to build a Guardian Farm. Although this can be difficult to accomplish, the beauty of this Armor Trim is worth the time!
Vex Armor Trim
The Vex Armor Trim is incredibly rare as it is found in one of the rarest Overworld structures. To get it, you will need to find a Woodland Mansion. Take out the monsters living in the Mansion by opening all its chests in the hope of finding this rare reward.
Ward Armor Trim
The Ward Armor is another hard to get Armor Trim only found in chests in the Ancient City. You’ll have to avoid the Warden to find this Ward Armor Trim Smithing Template in one of the many chests. If luck is on your side, you will find it, and the Silence Armor Trim will be in the same city.
Wayfinder Armor Trim
The Wayfinder Armor Trim is the final Armor Trim that can only be found using Archaeology. You’ll need to plug in Suspicious Gravel Road Ruin structures to discover it. It’s a rare drop, so watch out!
Savage Armor Trim
The Savage Armor Kit is the last one on our list and one that can be found in Jungle Temples. It is harder Armor Trim to find due to the rarity of Jungle Temples. When you manage to find one, be sure to watch out for its traps as you search the chests for this pattern.
