All job fixes and new actions in FFXIV Dawntrail
With the addition of higher level (Level 90+) content in Dawntrail and two new DPS jobs, action adjustments have been made to most existing classes. New Level 90+ actions have also been added for each job. We’ve listed them all below, by job, and ranked them in order by class (ie – Tank, Healer, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS).
This section will be updated as the Dawntrail (7.X) expansion continues, so be sure to check back regularly!

Monk | Basic combo mechanics no longer focus on maintaining sand or damage over time; instead, performing actions in a certain order will increase the power of the next action.
Can accumulate up to a total of ten chakra while Brotherhood is active; this is to prevent chakra overflow. |
Dragon | To reduce positional requirements for the single target combo, the fifth combo action has been changed to a new non-directional action, Drakesbane. Fang and Claw/Wheeling Thrust will change to Drakesbane, so input execution will remain the same.
To facilitate maximum damage at the beginning of a battle, Life of the Dragon will be available without accumulating Dragon Gauge. |
Ninja | Huton’s effect has been moved to a feature and will always be active. In addition, Huton will be changed to an AoE attack that gives the effect of “Hidden”.
Actions that extend the duration of Huton’s effect will be adjusted according to the change above. |
a samurai | To simplify transfusion management, Tsubame-gaeshi was changed to be executable after Meikyo Shisui.
Hakaze, Tenka Goken, and Midare Setsugekka have been upgraded into new actions. |
reaper | Plentiful Harvest’s effect will no longer increase the Shroud Gauge by 50 and will instead allow the execution of Enshroud. It can now be used when the gauge is at 51 or more without waste.
A new action that can be executed while Enshrouded has been added. |
viper | A quick job that fluidly switches between double and double punches in his various combos and abilities.
Has a similar number of actions as other jobs, but is designed so that fewer actions need to be set on the hot bar. |
Bard | Mage’s Ballad, Army’s Paeon, and the Wanderer’s Minuet are changed into sand actions that do not attack enemies.
Pitch Perfect is changed into an AoE attack for ease of use in encounters with multiple enemies. |
machinist | Plentiful Harvest’s effect will no longer increase the Shroud Gauge by 50, and will instead allow the execution of Enshroud. It can now be used when the gauge is at 51 or more without waste.
A new action that can be executed while Enshrouded has been added. |
Dancer | Plentiful Harvest’s effect will no longer increase the Shroud Gauge by 50 and will instead allow the execution of Enshroud. It can now be used when the gauge is at 51 or more without waste.
A new action that can be executed while Enshrouded has been added. |
Black Mage | Various adjustments have been made to streamline certain aspects of the job, such as restoring MP upon landing ice spells while Umbral Ice is active, instead of passively over time.
A new action that repositions Ley Lines below the caster has been added. |
summoner | Solar Bahamut, a new summon similar to Bahamut and Phoenix, has been added.
A new action that can be executed after Searing Light has been added. |
Red Mage | Manafication no longer increases Black Mana and White Mana by 50 and instead allows the execution of enchanted swordplays at no cost. It can now be executed when Mana is at 51 or higher with no waste.
The AoE enchanted fencing starting with Enchanted Moulinet will now consume a total of 50 Black Mana and Blank Mana, similar to its single-target counterpart. |
Pictomancer | Prepare by painting various motifs, then bring them to life to produce various effects. Writes several reasons for carrying out high-powered attacks.
Able to give gains to party and self. |
White Mage | A new action allowing the caster to fast forward has been added.

Academician | Seraphism, a new action that changes the caster’s appearance and improves healing spells, has been added.
A new AoE attack that can be executed after Chain Stratagem has been added. |
an astrologer | The card system is no longer random, and instead simultaneously draws cards with offensive, defensive, and healing effects.
Astrodyne was removed according to the discontinuation of astrosigns. |
a wise man | Eukrasia now improves Dyskrasia II into Eukrasian Dyskrasia, an AoE attack that deals damage over time to enemies within range.
A new party template that heals nearby party members whenever the caster casts a spell has been added. |
Aside from the official inclusion of Viper and Pictomancer among the ranks, there appear to be some notable tweaks for this expansion. Dragoon constantly giving up positional requirements, Monk combos reused for more real damage than buffs, and Black Mage restoring more MP for even more damage output are just a few.
Astrologer gets yet another significant change to the purpose of its card system as well, being the infamous healing class that hasn’t been put together properly since the Stormblood expansion saw fit to break it. However, this looks like a step in the right direction from the last questionable change to the job.
All class changes in FFXIV Dawntrail
Several changes to all three main classes (ie Tank, Healer, DPS) were introduced for the Dawntrail expansion, to bring a proper balance to all the new job actions and subsequent adjustments to existing ones. We’ve listed those changes below, by class.
class | Changes Made |
tank | Rampart and job-exclusive 30% damage reduction skills are upgraded at Level 90 and above. The duration of Retaliation is increased to 15 seconds at Level 90 and above. |
Healer | Swiftcast’s cooldown is reduced to 40 seconds at Level 90 and above. |
Melee DPS | The healing power of Second Wind increases at Level 90 and above. Feint duration is increased to 15 seconds at Level 90 and above. |
Physical Ranged DPS | Second Wind’s healing power increases at Level 90 and above. Damage reduction of job-exclusive defensive abilities is increased to 15% at Level 90 and above. |
Magic Ranged DPS | Swiftcast’s cooldown is reduced to 40 seconds at Level 90 and above. Addle’s duration is increased to 15 seconds at Level 90 and above. |
As players push past Level 90 and take on the biggest challenges the game has to date, these useful tweaks will definitely help make things easier in terms of combat. The reduced cooldown on Swiftcast is especially welcome for healers and magical DPS alike. Getting those Rises faster in a pinch, or an extra attack in your rotation is paramount.
The increased duration of debuff attacks like Feint and Addle are also good improvements, as any damage dealt in a tough fight makes a big difference.
New Action Change Settings feature in FFXIV Dawntrail
A brand new feature in FFXIV’s Dawntrail expansion called ‘Change Settings Action’ intended to help reorganize and declutter hotbars, especially for those who play on a console and/or use controllers/gamepads.
Similar to systems used by other MMOs, players will have the option to change how action hotbar icons work, specifically when it comes to combo actions. Instead of a combo taking up multiple icon spaces on a hotbar, each icon replaces the other in sequence on a single space.
This feature can be found by going to the ‘Actions and Traits’ submenu on the in-game dashboard, and then to ‘Actions’. It will be ‘Action Change settings’ option for certain actions available to turn on or off.
That concludes our guide to all the FFXIV job changes and new actions in Dawntrail. We hope you found this useful, and let us know which tweaks or additions you’re most excited to see.
