All maps and modes in XDefiant
With the global launch of XDefiant, gamers will be looking forward to diving into this new free-to-play shooter from Ubisoft. Like other FPS titles, this one has a variety of maps and modes to choose from and in this guide we’ll show you everything there is to know about these.
All Maps in XDefiant
There will be 14 maps available for XDefiant at launch, some of which are derived from various Ubisoft games and others are completely original. They are:
Arena Maps
Arena maps are traditional PvP maps that you see in popular FPS games but with a bit of a Ubisoft twist. These are generally small, which makes for some action-packed combat. There are plenty of places to cover these maps if you are a more stealthy player.
- Arena
- Attic Heights
- dumbo
- Echelon headquarters
- Emporium
- Freedom
- May day
- Noodleplex
- Town bed
- Showtime
Progress Maps
The Progress Maps are larger with different areas. Larger maps mean there are plenty of ways to change your playstyles as there are a good number of cover and vantage points in these. The different areas of the maps can be unlocked by completing a certain objective or checkpoint.
- A meltdown
- Midway
- Times Square
- zoo
All Game Modes in XDefiant
There are five types of game modes available in XDefiant, which are split between the Arena and Progress Maps in the game:
Governance
In Domination, players will have to capture three zones around a map while taking part in an intense firefight. Every second your team holds a zone, you will gain some important points that can help you win.
escort
In this mode, you and your team will have to push a payload from one point of the map to another. One team will guide the payload to the end point while the other team will try to slow its progress. Teamwork and strategy are key here in this modern tug of war, so you must work together to emerge victorious.
Hot shot
Players will have to collect tokens from eliminated players in the Hot Shot mode. The player with the most tokens is targeted on the map for the opposing team (ie the ”Hot Shot”), but they also get a handy movement boost to use. There is certainly some risk for the targeted player, but the rewards are even greater because the team with the most tokens wins.
Occupy
In Occupy, opposing teams will fight each other for control of a specific zone on a map. The zone periodically shifts to different areas of the map that are sure to keep everyone on their toes. It is similar to Hardpoint, with the highest-scoring team as the winner.
Zone Control
With this mode, it’s self-explanatory, as opposing teams battle it out for control of zones in different locations on a map. Once a zone is captured, one team will have to launch a proper attack while the team that captured it will have to defend it like never before. As always teamwork and strategy are essential here as you may be overwhelmed by juggling the zones. Capturing all zones within an area will open a new area with more zones; the winner is decided by who scored more points by capturing the belts.
