Below you can find all 25 units in Mechabellum along with all the information regarding what they’re strong against and which units can counter them.
Steel Ball
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Steel Ball | Arclight, Sledgehammer, Tarantula, Rhino, Sandworm, Firebadger, Typhoon | Crawler, Phoenix, Overlord, Stormcaller |
Steel Balls are one of the strongest DPS in Mechabellum. They can shred through single target units and are mostly used as back lane damage dealers. When I see the enemy building single target units in the early game, like Arclights and Sledgehammers, getting a few Steel Balls on the back lane or enemy flanks effectively counters their composition.
On the other hand, if you’re having a hard time against Steel Balls or see your opponent building them, you can easily counter them using Phoenix or Crawlers in the early game. Crawlers can overwhelm them in numbers, while Phoenix can exploit their inability to target aerial units.
Farseer
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Farseer | Arclight, Marksman, Hacker, Phoenix, Wraith | Rhino, Melting Point, Fortress, War Factory, Overlord |
The Farseer is a reinforcement-only unit, that you can choose in-between rounds. Unlike other units, the Farseer shines during the mid-game instead of early or late. Moreover, they are not a hard counter to any unit but you can use them to protect yourself from sudden strategy changes of your opponent, especially against aerial units like Phoenix or Wraith.
Generally, the Farseer excels in support capabilities by providing shields or range extensions to your troops. I use these abilities to protect my frontline from enemy missiles or strengthen my backline. If you see your enemy getting one of these, you can easily counter it by placing a Rhino near it in the early game or deploying a War Factory in the late game.
Sledgehammer
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Sledgehammer | Crawler, Mustang, Arclight | Steel Ball, Phoenix, Vulcan, War Factory, Wasp |
The Sledgehammer is a strong early-game unit that is great at countering other early-game picks like Crawlers, Mustangs, and Arclights. While they can help you get some early-round wins, they fall off quickly in the later rounds. Unfortunately, any investment into Sledgehammer won’t be worth it in the long run, so I suggest you only get them if there are tons of Crawlers on your opponent’s frontline.
While the Sledgehammer has limited use cases, they can be countered by a lot of units. In the early game, having Steel Balls and Phoenix can hard counter any number of Sledgehammer. Rarely if you encounter them in the late game, having a single Vulcan or War Factory is a sufficient counter for them.
Sandworm
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Sandworm | Arclight, Sledgehammer, Tarantula, Vulcan, Fire Badger, Typhoon, Farseer | Steel Ball, War Factory, Melting Point, Phoenix, Overlord |
The Sandworm is a rather aggressive Melee unit in Mechabellum. It is great at countering giant ground units like Tarantula and Vulcan among others. The Sandworm is dependent on its upgrades to become a viable carry, so I usually build them around the mid to late game to get good value.
Unfortunately, the Sandworm gets decimated by units like the War Factory, or the Melting Point, if it locks onto the worm. In case you don’t have either of them, getting a few Steel Balls can also be an effective way to deal with these mechs.
Wasp
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Wasp | Marksman, Phoenix, Melting Point, Overlord, Vulcan | Mustang, Fortress, Fang, Wraith, Typhoon |
Wasps are like aerial Crawlers: they can be extremely effective in the early game and even provide you with an advantage in the later rounds if built properly. They can counter almost every single target unit like Marksmen, Melting Point, or any ground unit that lacks aerial targeting.
If you see your opponent committing heavily towards Wasps, it’s a good idea to build tons of Mustangs in the early game. Countering Wasps in later rounds is easy with Fortresses having the Anti-Air Barrage upgrade.
Mustang
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Mustang | Fang, Marksman, Wasp, Phoenix, Overlord, Crawler | Arclight, Sledgehammer, Vulcan, War Factory, Typhoon, Fire Badger |
The Mustangs are a strong all-rounder unit with great early-game potential. They can effectively counter hordes of Crawlers and Wasps while also taking down giants like the Overlord. Unfortunately, they have a huge weakness against armored units, making them useless against units like Arclight or Sledgehammer. In the mid to late game, Vulcans absolutely demolish Mustangs with ease, so I wouldn’t recommend keeping them as your carry.
Fire Badger
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Fire Badger | Crawler, Fang, Arclight, Mustang, Sledgehammer | Steel Ball, Rhino, Fortress, War Factory, Sabertooth, Overlord, Phoenix |
Similar to units like the Farseer, you can only get the Fire Badger from reinforcement picks. These mechs are excellent at clearing swarm units like Crawlers, Fangs, and Mustangs, making them extremely strong frontline in both the early as well as the late game.
If you see your opponent has a Fire Badger on the frontline, it is a good idea to build Steel Balls or Rhinos to counter them effectively. In the late game, it is best to build a Fortress or a War Factory which makes them almost useless.
Overlord
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Overlord | Rhino, Steel Ball, Sledgehammer, Stormcaller, Vulcan, Arclight, Hacker, Scorpion, Fire Badger, Sabertooth, Typhoon, War Factory, Wraith | Marksman, Melting Point, Phoenix, Wasp, Mustang |
Overlord is one of the strongest back lane damage dealers in Mechabellum. Having some well-positioned Overlords with upgrades can wipe out all kinds of units at a long range. When I get Overlords, my main objective is to protect them, and they handle the rest.
Countering the Overlord can be quite challenging, especially if they’re surrounded by Rhinos or Steel Balls. Your best bet is to distract it with swarms of Wasps while having units like Marksmen or Mustangs at the back to shred down its defenses.
Phoenix
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Phoenix | Arclight, Overlord, Rhino, Stormcaller, Vulcan, Typhoon, Sabertooth, Fire Badger, Scorpion | Mustang, Fang, Wasp, Marksman, Fortress |
Similar to Wasps, the Phoenix is also great at countering almost every ground unit that lacks aerial targeting. They are especially useful in flanks, to avoid swarms and target back lane damage dealers of your opponent.
Whenever I see my opponent get Phoenix in the early game, I deploy a few Mustangs or Wasps to promptly deal with them. In the later rounds, having one or two Anti-Air Barrage Fortresses is more than enough to wipe them out.
Marksman
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Marksman | Arclight, Hacker, Overlord, Phoenix, Wraith | Crawler, Fang, Mustang, War Factory, Farseer, Wasp, Fortress |
The Marksman is a somewhat weaker version of Phoenix. While easy to level up, this unit is only useful in early rounds and gets easily countered in the late game. They are great at dealing with long-range or aerial threats like Overlords or Wraiths, but get countered by hordes of Crawlers or Wasps.
Arclight
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Arclight | Crawler, Fang, Mustang | Marksman, Sledgehammer, Stormcaller, Steel Ball, Tarantula, Rhino, Scorpion, Vulcan, Melting Point, Fortress, War Factory, Sabertooth |
Arclight is great at dealing with both aerial and ground swarm units, especially the likes of Crawlers and Wasps. Apart from that, they aren’t useful against any other unit and get countered by almost every single target damage dealer. I suggest only getting a few of these, in case your opponent is lining their frontline with Crawlers or Fangs.
Fang
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Fang | Marksman, Wasp, Phoenix, Overlord | Vulcan, Fire Badger, Typhoon, Mustang, Steel Ball, Wraith, Arclight |
Fang is a better version of the Crawler, and its value comes from tanking shots from high DPS single-target units like Melting Points, Marksmen, and Overlords. I usually prefer Fangs over Crawlers because of their portable shield upgrade which lets them tank a few more shots and gives them some viability even in the late game. Unfortunately, they get steamrolled by any AoE unit like the Vulcan, Fire Badger, or Typhoon.
Tarantula
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Tarantula | Fang, Arclight, Mustang, Hacker, Sledgehammer | Sandworm, Steel Ball, War Factory, Stormcaller, Fortress, Marksman, Melting Point, Overlord, Phoenix, Rhino, Sabertooth, Scorpion |
The Tarantula is a very niche unit, and more often than not, you won’t be using them as your main carry. They can deal with most swarm units like Fangs and even Sledgehammers, if you’ve got the Spider Mine upgrade, and are useful for distracting single-target mechs. Countering the Tarantula is quite easy, and can be done with as little as deploying a few Pheonix near them, or getting a War Factory.
Fortress
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Fortress | Arclight, Sledgehammer, Marksman, Tarantula, Hacker, Scorpion, Vulcan, Sabertooth, Farseer, Fire Badger, Typhoon | Crawler, Fang, Steel Ball, Overlord, Melting Point |
Fortress is one of the strongest units in Mechabellum and can be quite tough to deal with. Their upgrades allow you to nullify any counter that your opponent might’ve picked. Moreover, Fortresses can effectively counter multiple units especially late-game units like Scorpions and Vulcans. If you want to counter Fortresses, you have to either go for upgraded Steel Balls or Melting Points.
Sabertooth
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Sabertooth | Arclight, Marksman, Sledgehammer, Tarantula, Hacker, Vulcan, Typhoon, Fire Bagder, Farseer | Crawler, Fang, Steel Ball, Melting Point, Fortress, War Factory, Overlord, Phoenix |
The Sabertooth is a reinforcement-only unit that excels at getting rid of giant mechs like Vulcans or single-targets like Arclights and Marksmen. Because of its burst damage, you should place them on the frontline, closer to your opponent’s tanks or giants.
If you see your opponent pick a Sabertooth, the best counter is to deploy swarms of either Crawlers or Fangs close to it and keep it busy. Getting a War Factory is also a simple solution in later rounds as it will keep drip-feeding units until the Sabertooth is destroyed.
Vulcan
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Vulcan | Crawler, Fang, Arclight, Marksman, Mustang, Sledgehammer, Tarantula, Hacker, Fire Badger, Typhoon | Fortress, Melting Point, Overlord, Phoenix, Steel Ball, Stormcaller, Rhino |
Similar to the Fortress, the Vulcan is another giant mech that provides great value. This unit is the ideal frontline and can clear all ground swarm units. Even mid-tier units like Fire Badgers and Typhoon get burned down by the Vulcan. Your best bet to counter this unit is getting a Fortress or a Melting Point, if not both. The Fortress can tank the Vulcan while the Melting Point can shred it down once it locks on.
Scorpion
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Scorpion | Arclight, Sledgehammer, Tarantula, Hacker, Vulcan, Fire Badger, Typhoon, War Factory | Marksman, Wasp, Overlord, Phoenix |
The Scorpion is a strong ground unit and a mid-game menace. It can dominate against single units like Arclights and Sledgehammers. In the late game, it can even take down War Factories if you’ve got the Acid Attack upgrade. The glaring weakness of this unit is aerial units, especially the Overlord in the late game. If you can’t afford Overlord, just deploy a few Phoenix, and you should be good to go.
Rhino
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Rhino | Sledgehammer, Fire Badger, Mustang, Vulcan, Stormcaller, Marksman, Crawler, Typhoon, Arclight | Steel Ball, War Factory, Phoenix, Melting Point, Hacker, Overlord, Fortress |
One of the most aggressive units in Mechabellum, the Rhino is a high DPS melee unit. In the early game, it can easily clear single units, especially tanks and front liners. In the late game, Rhinos are more tech-dependent but provide solid support to your ranged DPS. Countering them can be tricky and usually depends on what upgrade they have. I generally deploy a Phoenix for every Rhino in the early game and switch it to a Fortress or Overlord in the later rounds.
Stormcaller
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Stormcaller | Scorpion, Marksman, Arclight, Mustang, Vulcan, Fortress, Typhoon, Fang, Melting Point | Sabertooth, Rhino, Sledgehammer, War Factory, Overlord, Crawler, Phoenix, Stormcaller |
Stormcaller is one of the most versatile units in Mechabellum. They can fill almost every role, and help you get an early-game advantage. I get at least two Storm Callers as soon as my match begins to secure the upper hand. You can counter them using anti-missile devices, but this can get very expensive very quickly. You should stick to distracting them using Crawlers till you can afford a War Factory with an anti-missile upgrade.
War Factory
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
War Factory | Fire Badger, Overlord, Arclight, Stormcaller, Sledgehammer, Steel Ball, Rhino, Sabertooth, Vulcan, Typhoon, Marksman | Melting Point, Scorpion |
The War Factory is another top-tier unit which you’ll probably see more in the late game. It has immense support potential, especially its anti-missile capabilities. Moreover, it can clear all sorts of units by summoning strong units like Sledgehammer and Phoenix. There aren’t make counter options for this, with Scorpion being your best bet. If you can position a Melting Point for it to lock onto the Factory, then you can get rid of it quickly as well.
Melting Point
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Melting Point | Wraith, Scorpion, Fortress, Rhino, Vulcan, Typhoon, War Factory | Hacker, Phoenix, Marksman, Steel Ball, Crawler, Stormcaller |
The Melting Point is the highest DPS mech you can get on your field. It is best suited for dealing with tanks, especially as a counter for Fortresses and War Factories. They are quite easy to counter because if they can’t lock onto your giants, they’re useless. I generally swarm them in the early game and get upgraded Steel Balls in the later rounds as a hard counter.
Crawler
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Crawler | Fang, Marksman, Sabertooth, Scorpion, Steel Ball, Stormcaller, Melting Point, Hacker | Typhoon, Tarantula, Fire Badger, Vulcan, Wraith, Sledgehammer, Rhino, Arclight |
Crawlers are the most basic units you can get your hands on and are ideal for distracting mid to giant mechs. They can provide great value in the early game as a counter for single target DPS like Marksman and in later rounds against Melting Points. If you see your opponent has committed to getting Crawlers hordes, deploying Arclights early or Wraith in the late game is the best course of action.
Wraith
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Wraith | Wasp, Crawler, Fang, Sledgehammer, Steel Ball | Melting Point, Overlord, Phoenix, Marksman |
Wraith is one of the strongest aerial AoE units in Mechabellum. It can effectively counter swarm units like Crawlers, Wasps, and Fangs with its unblockable multiple-target ability. You can also build them as an aggressive frontline to make way for your other DPS. To counter them, having any sort of single-target damage dealer is enough. I usually prefer Marksmen or Phoenix in the early game and transition to Overlords in the late game.
Typhoon
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Typhoon | Mustang, Wasp, Crawler, Fang | War Factory, Steel Ball, Scorpion, Melting Point, Phoenix, Sabertooth, Fortress, Marksman, Overlord, Rhino |
Typhoons are another reinforcement-only unit that are strong front liners that can effectively clear swarm units like Crawlers, Fangs, and even Mustangs. They fall off in the later rounds because of their heavy reliance on upgrades. While there are multiple ways to counter them, Steel Balls and Scorpions are more effective at getting rid of them because of they can ignore shields.
Hacker
Unit | Can Counter | Is Countered By |
---|---|---|
Hacker | Rhino, Fire Badger, Arclight, Scorpion, Sledgehammer, Steel Ball, Melting Point | Wraith, Fang, Stormcaller, War Factory, Phoenix, Crawler, Overlord, Fortress |
Hackers are a tricky unit and require good positioning to get any value. If you’re able to place them in the vicinity of your opponent’s core DPS, then you can almost guarantee a win every round. On the other hand, countering them is quite easy. If you see an enemy hacker in early or mid-game, just surround it with swarms of Crawlers. In later rounds, having upgraded Mustangs or Overlords with Ground Cannon upgrade can counter them effectively.
