The Ancient Depths Serpent is a fish of Exotic rarity that was introduced to Fisch with The Depths expansion. This huge fish is not available all the time, so players must know how and when to catch it. To find your own Ancient Profound Serpent, keep reading.
Where to find the Ancient Profound Serpent in Fisch
The Ancient Deep Serpent can only be caught in The Deeps. To reach The Depths, you must use a Weird Whirlpool reach Vertigo, and then grab a huge red and black key known as The Key of Depths. Once you have this key, you will be able to open the door next to the red crystals in Vertigo that leads to The Depths.
If you don’t have Fish RadarI highly recommend you buy one before you drive down to Vertigo. Fish Radars can be purchased from the rocks near the Shipbuilder on Moosewood. They cost 8,000 C$ and can tell you where to catch certain fish when you are close enough to their spawning area.
The Ancient Profound Serpent does not have a single spawn point, which makes it so hard to find. However, in my experience of seeing it spawn several times, it always spawns to the right of the Merchant, along the path that has the two stone pillars. It could spawn next to one of the piers at coordinates (940, 735, 1405) or longer beyond the piers at coordinates (1085, 740, 1445).
The reason I keep talking about the spawning fish is because you can’t just go and fish in these places to catch it. The Ancient Depth Serpent only spawns during the Absolute Darkness weather event. You’ll be able to tell when that happens because The Deeps become so dark you can’t see anything and you will hear a noisy noise comes from the game. To find the spawning point of the Ancient Profound Serpent when this happens, enable your Fish Radar and seek or shining, golden square in the wateror the title “Ancient Depth Serpent” in rainbow-colored text on your screen. When you see both, walk to that area until you find the highlighted square.

The Ancient Depth Serpent causes a -60% progress rate decrease on you when you try to catch it. You will have to combat this by using a good fishing rod and the right bait.
The best sticks to use to capture the Ancient Profound Serpent is:
- The Steady Rod – The Steady Rod’s 30% Resilience stat and max weight of 10,000kg should help you fight the Ancient Depths Serpent while catching it and ensure you can reel in any size of fish.
- The Rod of the Depths – This rod is made to swing the fish in The Depths. It’s expensive, and annoying to get, but its stats are incredibly overpowered.
- The Sunken Rod – With 150% Luck and 0.15 Control, not only will you actually be able to hook an Ancient Profound Serpent, but you’ll have a better chance of following through with it.
