If you want to build the best deck around the Mewtwo EX cardhere’s a complete breakdown of the cards you must have:

Card Priority Reason
Mewtwo EX necessary The core of this deck. An extremely strong ability for only two energy costs. The four energy attack can be used to deal with any opponent EX or evolution.
Jinx Replaceable A strong early game unit that you can use to defend until you install Mewtwo. Also good for taking out cards with too many energy orbs.
Ralts ok A reserve unit that you can put in the first couple of turns and then evolve during the mid and late game.
Kirlia ok Similar to Ralts, but don’t send it as an active unit until you evolve it into Gardevoir.
Gardevoir Excellent Pretty strong mid-game development. If you don’t have enough energy on Mewtwo, or need a replacement, Gardevoir is perfect for that job.

This deck is only viable with the Mewtwo EX versionand not the regular Mewtwo card. Be sure to check that before using this deck in multiplayer PvP.

Just building the deck is not enough to help you win a match. You will also need to play your cards right if you want to win the PvP matches. This includes a tripartite approachwhich is your starting hand, early game setup, and the late game setup.

Starting Hand

When you get your first five starting cards, these are the ones you should try to get:

  • Mewtwo EX (important)
  • Ralt (recommended)
  • Jinx or Kirlia

In addition to the above cards, all training cards would also be ideal for you, especially to help support your starter Pokemon.

Early Game Setting

In the early game (rounds one through five), you should start your setup with a floating Pokemon like Jynx on the Active slot and Ralt on your backline. If you didn’t draw Jynx during your start, you can choose Ralt as the active.

Try to evolve Ralt to Gardevior as soon as you can by adding your starting energy orbs to your Asset and then start feeding them to Mewtwo EX.

Late Game Setup

As you approach the late game, which is after the sixth round, your goal should be to switch Mewtwo EX to the active slot. You can either do this when your starting Pokemon faints or if you have the X Speed coach card

After you activate Mewtwo EX, with at least two energy orbs, you should try to remove your opponent’s EXs and evolutions with the Psydrive move. If your opponent has a unit with low HP on active, deal with them using Psychic Ball.

If you don’t have all the cards for the ideal Mewtwo EX deck, here are a few alternative cards for your deck that you can use as a replacement until you find the rest of the cards.

Card Replaces Reason
Drowzee Ralt Similar to Ralt, can be used as a float until you evolve it into Hypno. A good mid-game alternative.
Hypnosis Kirlia Similar to Kirlia, and has a 50% chance to put your opponent’s active Pokemon to sleep each turn.
Mister Mime Jinx If you don’t have Jynx, you can turn it off with Mr. Mime, which has one of the strongest starting moves, which gives it -20 damage reduction every turn.
Farfetch’d Jinx If you don’t have Jynx or Mr.Mime, then you can use Farfetch’d to do a lot of damage for just one energy orb. Great for the early game.
