The exploration in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is not everyone’s cup of tea due to the limited fast travel options in the form of Portcrystals and Ferrystone. With the finite amount of Portcrystals in the Dragon’s Dogma 2, you should definitely be careful about its placement, especially in the early game.
Although you can grab an already placed Portcrystal, it is still much more effective if you place them in ideal places to help you on your journey. In this guide, I will show you some of the best places for Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Best Portcrystal placement locations in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Portcrystals are very limited in Dragon’s Dogma 2; that’s why I chose the Crazy Store mod (formerly known as Fast Travel Pack Mod). These are the best places for Portcrystal placement in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
- Holy Tree –One of the first major cities I encountered was the Holy Tree through Glyndwr’s quest line. I also had to get the Woodland Wordsmith specialization for my Pawn so I could translate the NPC. Elvish Language. Some quests here require you to travel back and forth between the Sacred Tree and distant places like Bakbattahl, so be sure to place a Port Crystal here before leaving.
- Bakbattahl—During my playthrough, I skipped most of the main story quests because I prefer to drown in side activities and unlock all the vocations first. I got through Bakbattahl by illegal means, and to my surprise, there is no Portcrystal within the area, which is surprising for a Capital City. Place your Portcrystal here because it is a a long journey back to Vernworth.
- Volcanic Island Camp—Another important place to put Portcrystal is the Volcanic Island Camp. Alternatively, you can place your Portcrystal anywhere after you pass The Grotto of Drabnirbut placing it in the Volcanic Island Camp allows you to easily return to Lamond (Waymaker Invocation) do you need to buy Newt Liqueurs from the Higgs Tavern Stand in Bakbattahl.

Where to get Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Wear crystals is a rare and very limited item in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you think you can use fakes of them through Ibrahim in Checkpoint Rest Town, no you can’t. Here are some of the quests and locations that give Portcrystals in my game so far:
- Feast of Deception (Main Quest) – Commander Brant (Vernworth)
- Archery Test (Side Quest) – Glyndwr (Vernworth to Sacred Arbor)
- Riddle of Madness (Side Quest) and A Conundrum of Conviction (Side Quest)—Sphinx (Mountain Sanctuary); you can get two if you play Riddle of Madness first and then make a working copy of the Portcrystal after completing Riddle of Conviction.
- Forest Griffon Nest (Location) – east of Checkpoint Rest Town
Other than the vanilla quests and locations I’ve found, you won’t get “except” Portcrystals for the rest of your game. I still recommend you install the Crazy Store modas it allows you buy Portcrystals for 50,000G. It’s a QOL improvement for a busy person like me, so I can freely teleport around important places easily in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
