Canine companion confirmed for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

A canine companion is one of the things near the top of my wishlist for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, so it's lucky game director Daniel Vávra has now confirmed that it will be a feature in the medieval RPG sequel.

Asked about the animals featured in the footage shown so far, Vávra said in a Czech interview with VOX TV that you can expect a horse and dog companion and nothing more. Throw in a cat and that's all I need — some of us prefer the fairer species, you know? (We'll have to wait for DLC to adopt a kitten, if it even happens then, unfortunately.)

As I said in my wishlist (linked above), it would be nice to see pets as perks and equipment added in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. This would of course be in addition to the previous command features that let you send your pet out to find treasures or hunt animals (among other things), as well as the Obedience Mechanic who encouraged you to care about it. But either way, it will just be a great addition to the base game, making those lonely roads less lonely.

As for the horse companion, that is assumed, but of course also welcome. Kingdom Come: Deliverance had a pretty robust set of horse mechanics, including stables, equipment, stats, piping, etc (the piping was really handy for stealth characters). Bonuses are about the only thing I'd like to see added here (if that), but the main changes would be less annoying and more efficient mounted combat, and perhaps an expanded horse racing system (combining it with gambling for good measure, allowing you to bet on other horses or run your own).
