As expected by many, but still letters: Rockstar Games has officially delayed Grand Theft Auto 6. Originally scheduled for Fall 2025 edition, the game is now scheduled to launch on May 26, 2026.
The announcement was surprisingly dry. No new screenshots, no second trailer, and no new details to keep fans busy. Since the record debut trailer in November 2023, there has been an ear-eel silence, and the lack of updates begins to frustrate a community that has been waiting for more than a decade.
‘Strauss giving us nuggets of hope disappointing’
However, community members keep hope, such as @Synth pot: “It’s not surprising at all, everyone who knows and finds out with Rockstar, guessed that this is coming, but Strauss giving us hopes was quite disappointing. Everything is a long wait, but we will hopefully and the extra time will certainly result in even more complete experience.“
@Synth potato reports to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick repeatedly expressing confidence in the original Fall 2025 edition in the media. Zelnick said in February in an interview with IGN: “Look, there is always a risk of slip and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx affairs, so we feel very good about it. Although Zelnick felt good about the publication of the fall 2025, Rockstar developers were long skeptical of the launch window, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier.
‘I hope they give us trailer 2 as an apology’
Community Member @Gameroll also spoke with us about the delay, stating: ‘I know that most people’s reactions will be negative. I understand the disappointment and of course I would rather have it ASAP. But I chose to adopt a more optimistic mindset. Rockstar creates something really special. RDR2 was delayed twice, and this was needed to create such a masterpiece. I have a complete confidence in their skills and I can’t wait next May! ‘
Fans also wonder why we didn’t get screenshots or new information to illuminate the blow of the at least 6 -month delay. Gta v Speedrunner @darkviperau went x answer: ‘It actually delayed all year?! I was so adored that it would delay, then everyone convinced me that it would not be! Now they actually delay it!? Crazy. Better it will result well than rushed, but still disappointing … I hope they will at least give us trailer 2 as an apology. ‘
2025 publishing marketing remains online
Surprisingly, Rockstar still has to update its website or market materials to reflect the new date of release. Both the official website and the banner in X still show the original Fall 2025 -launch window. This led to a guess that Rockstar may reveal more details earlier than expected, perhaps in an effort to accelerate the confidence of investors by the next quarterly quarterly income.
