Compelling Information Quest Prosecutor – War Stories (Bug Fix)

To fully complete each region in medieval strategy RPG Wartales you must complete all of its quests. Whether you're facing the Convincing Information quest for the first time, or are a veteran who couldn't complete it due to a bug, read on for the information you need on this walkthrough.

Wartales Convincing Information quest walk

Convincing Information is a Wartales quest that you can take in the Drombach County area. This is in the snowy far northwest of the game map and if you're playing region-locked, you'll face some of the hardest enemies in the game, with levels from 9-11.

During release, a bug affected many players which meant that while they completed the quest, it did not register as such. This bug has been fixed in the April 26, 2024 patch, and returning players can find how to complete it below. To choose this quest as a new player, go to the Scholar's Choice Market in New Asthel (marked above) and talk to the Lady Mayoress. After she talks to you, she will leave the market. Follow her to get the quest.

When you talk to the Lady Mayoress (above map) she will inform you that the local Innkeeper has disappeared. She is asking you find the innkeeper and bring him back, giving you a possible lead on his whereabouts. Before leaving New-Asthel I suggest you make sure have at least 1 python and 100+ Influence.

You will go into a mountain area and need at least one pita to complete the quest. I would take more as they too can shorten your return considerably. When you find the innkeeper, you will have two choices, but you need 100 Influence for each. Otherwise, you will have to return to him later to finish the quest.

You must first speak to a group of Inquisitorial Officers which the Lady Mayoress tells you that you spoke to the innkeeper before. You will find them at the location marked on the map above. The simplest way to get there is to follow the path to the south, and continue to follow it west to the Tracker's Camp. Stay on the road moving west towards Mount Ernst Haven and you will meet the Inquisition Officers on the way. Whether you lie (90 Influence) or fight them doesn't matter. Either way, you will receive the following information.

Next, you need to go to Courageous Tower. Follow the path you are already on and head west from Mount Ernst Haven, turning south at the crossroads. Stay on the road until you see Rimesteel Mine to the west and then take the first opportunity to head east and up into the mountains. You can't miss Valiant Tower (see above for map location).

Speaking to Captain Erulf in Wartales

Go into the tower and talk to Captain Erulf. Again you have two choices here, both of which will get you the information you need. If you threaten him (or fight him) you will gain 30-40 Suspicion. However, since you will be spending the next time in the mountains, this will probably disappear before you see any more guards. After that, Captain Erulf will show you to a cave high in the mountains.

The place you need to go is Mount Ernst Cave. Note that you must have pitto to gain access to this place, so don't go there without one. The Pittons is a standard Tinker recipe that can be made in your camp, as long as you have it 1 Iron Ore and 1 Rope.

Go straight east from Valiant Tower, passing the Trapper's Cabin to your south as you go. Once past a large mountain to your south, start going southeast until you see Mount Ernst Cave to the west. I showed the python position above. Use the python to enter this valley and then go to the cave.

You will find the innkeeper inside the cave, but unfortunately, he is captured by some Polar bears. This is a battle you have to have and it can be tough.

  • The innkeeper: You have to keep the innkeeper alive to win the battle, so be sure to put him back out of the way.
  • Enclosed space: This fight takes place inside the cave, so you can be quite limited (depending on your luck with the map layout). High DPS units with Unstoppable are super useful here, like Pugilists and Rangers.

With the victory won, talk to the innkeeper and pay 100 Influence to decide his fate. The reward is the same for both options (20 Scenario Quest points, 75 Influence, 150 Crowns) and your decision is simply moral. Hand him over to the Inquisition for execution (you monster), or return him to the Lady Mayoress in New-Astel.

After you transfer it, the search should be removed from your search list. If it doesn't, you can use the Wartales Convincing Information search bug below.

If you have almost finished the search for Persuasive Information but it would still show up in your unfinished search listas of Wartales v1.0.34505 you can now do the following to complete the quest:

  1. Go to Courageous Tower in Drombach District
  2. Once in the tower, open your Map

This should validate the search (it worked for me). You don't need to talk to the soldiers (as the quest suggests); just open your map once in the tower.
