Dead by Daylight fans think character favoritism for new skins has gone too far

The character roster in Dead by Daylight grows with each new chapter, as do their costume collections. However, Behavior Interactive seems to have a preference for which characters will get new skins, and fans aren’t too happy about it.

When it comes to new outfits, some characters get better skins in larger numbers, and it’s been that way since the beginning. Way back when, it was Meg from the Original Four who got the most clothes, although I have to admit that quantity didn’t mean quality in her case (disclaimer: I love the outfit in the picture above).

After Meg, the torch went to Feng Min. As a member of an ESports team, it is quite easy to give her beautiful gamer girl skins that will appeal to many (including me). But it got pretty annoying pretty quickly when she would keep getting skins over time

Currently, Mikaela Reed is in the spotlight as the Survivor who gets the most skins, and people are not happy. Her enchanting aesthetic really allows for some amazing skins, but there are a ton of other Survivors that deserve some love.

Claudette is one of the characters that suffers from a lack of skins, and even when she does get them, they’re usually pretty lackluster. Even with a pretty great design, the execution isn’t always great. Haddie is another Survivor that can be added to the list of less popular characters that don’t get new skins. It seems there isn’t enough love for everyone.

It may not be so obvious, but it is a relatively similar situation on Killer’s side as well. While the Skull Merchant is considered one of the worst Assassins in the game (and I personally hate playing against her because of the messed up gameplay), she keeps getting skins. I can’t help but think it’s because of her relatively humanoid design that makes her more attractive than other Assassins like the Hag or Huntress.

Fans argue about why Behavior seems to prefer to give clothes to only a few of the many characters. The reason could definitely be that they are less popular, which means that skins for them are not profitable. However, it seems like not giving characters fresh skins makes them less popular and keeps us stuck in a loop of Meg/Feng/Mikaela/Skull Merchant/Some future characters just get skins while the rest are ignored.

With the change in the prestige system came major changes to the Teachable Perk system. Once you level up a character, their perks will be unlocked for all your other characters. This is easier compared to how it used to be when you had to unlock each character’s Survivors through the Bloodweb.

Now we can argue that all Survivors are basically skins once you’ve unlocked their Perks for everyone. When it comes to Assassins, you choose their powers and abilities, while for Survivors, you choose your character’s looks and how loud they shout and move, but that’s about it.

When you consider that, it doesn’t really make sense to say that it’s not worth giving more skins to all the characters. If the less popular get more clothes, more people will play them. I say this as someone who has the most ridiculous outfit combination at Steve’s, but I enjoy the fact that I have the option to make it ridiculous.
