Destiny 2 d20 emote isn’t what it seems, and fans are upset

If you’re looking to buy the Natura 20 emote, hit the brakes. Many complain that the Destiny 2 d20 thrill is not what they thought it would be and that it is not worth the money spent.

The Natural 20 emote is part of the crossover between Destiny 2 and Dungeons and Dragons. You can find it at the Eververse store for 1200 Silver which will cost you around $12. For DnD fans, this wouldn’t be too high a price to pay if the thrill did what it should.

Players took to Reddit, where they shared that the d20 die doesn’t actually roll on all sides. You can only get 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20. This basically makes it a d5 die and not a d20 as advertised.

Furthermore, the emotion is client-side. That means what you see and what your teammates will see will be different (though not that different, considering it can only hit five sides).

It doesn’t make sense that Bungie would settle for an emote that doesn’t work properly and think that big DnD fans would accept it. Plus, it costs $12, which is the price for a skin in many games, not just an emote.

To add salt to the wound, there are other games that have incorporated a d20 mechanic into their gameplay in a much better way than Bungie. Dead by Daylight featured it through their DnD chapter. When you search for a special magic chest, you’ll roll the d20 and get an item based on the result (and yes, you can get any number, including a very terrible critical failure).

Sea of Thieves also did it with a Rolling Dice collection of six dice symbols (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 and d20). You can choose between one of the six dice to roll a number while playing the game. So clearly, it can be done. The big question is why Bungie didn’t do it in a game as popular as Destiny 2.
