Disney Epic Mickey: Rebroshed – Trailer, release date, and platforms
With a stunning trailer that was part of the 2024 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase on August 2, 2024, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a remake that will definitely grab your attention. Epic Mickey returns in this new adventure to travel through Wasteland, a realm of forgotten Disney characters. Let’s dive into the information available, including the trailer, release date, and platforms that Epic Mickey: Rebrushed will be available on.
Disney Epic Mickey: revised release date
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebroshed is to be released on September 24, 2024. The game is developed by Purple Lamp, who were also responsible for the 2010 Epic Mickey title. Although the game involves Disney characters, it will be published by THQ Nordic.
Disney did not develop or publish its own games for several years. Originally, they operated under Disney Interactive Studios, but on May 10, 2016, Disney announced a $147 million currency write-down and canceled its self-publishing console game operations.
Today’s Disney game projects are handed over to developers and publishers who work with Disney. Disney Dreamlight Valley, for example, was developed and published by Gameloft. However, DDV players have their own issues with the game’s bugs and have taken to the dev’s social media posts.
Disney Epic Mickey: Reimagined Trailer
The trailer, which was shown during the 2024 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, was well received, with YouTube users commenting on the nostalgia of playing a remake of a game they played as children.
One enthusiastic commenter said, “Thank you so much for bringing this hidden gem back to modern consoles. I can relive my childhood all over again!”
The trailer shows many features in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebroshed, but also introduces the dark and broken fantasy world that Mickey is trying to fix. As a player, your job is to help Mickey restore harmony to the Wasteland and bring color and life back to the environment.
You will be presented with a variety of game elements, including side scrolling paths that you will have to go through to find treasures, gems and other items.
Your choices will affect Mickey’s fate; are you up to the task?
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed platforms
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed will be available on PC (steam), Sony PlayStation 4, Sony PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. No one will miss this game, and there are also exclusive rewards available for fans who decide to pre-order.
There are two versions of the game available to order: the Standard Edition and the Collector’s Edition.
The Standard Edition will only come with the exclusive costume pack, which gives you different outfits to dress Mickey in (Steamboat Willie, Brave Tailor, and Football Mickey).
On the other hand, the Collector’s Edition comes with:
- The basic game
- Collector’s steel book
- Oswald the Lucky Rabbit keychain
- 28cm statue of Mickey Mouse
- 6 Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed postcards
- Vintage Mickey Mouse Tin Sign
- The Disney Epic Mickey: Rebroshed Costume Pack (in-game reward)
Those who pre-order will also benefit from a slightly earlier release date. The trailer shown during THQ’s showcase revealed that pre-orders will be able to play the game 24 hours before everyone else. It’s likely that this will be easier to access if you have a digital version of the game, but since there’s no information available on early delivery dates for physical pre-orders, I can’t confirm that one way or the other.
What I know for sure is that Early Access will no be available for those who pre-order on PC or Steam.
