Dragon Warrior Build Guide – Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring brought many new items to make different types of construction. For this, we have come up with what we think is the best Dragon Warrior build in Elden Ring.

Dragon Warrior Build Armor and Weapons in Elden Ring

  • Armor: None, using Dragon Form
  • Right Armament: Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana +10
  • Left Hand Armament 1: Large Katana +25
  • Left Hand Armament 2: Dragon Common Seal+10

We’re using the Dragon Form that you can get through the Domain of Dragon Paintings puzzle, so you can’t use any armor here. The Dragon Form also gives a boost to your physical damage negation, so it will be very helpful when fighting enemies in the base game as well as the DLC.

For the main weapon, we use maximum Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana which you can get by defeating the Ancient Dragon Man at the Dragon Post. This deals huge damage to all types of enemies, especially dragons, causing blood loss as well. On top of that, it’s fast Dragon Wound Trango skill is devastating and can take out most large enemies with two or three uses of it. There are other weapons suitable for this build, but this excellent katana is fast and its weapon ability basically one-shots enemies.

Other right hand weapons we recommend are the Blasphemy Blade (defeating Rykard) and Spear of the Impaler (beating Messmer) because we’re going with the fire theme. Both of these weapons’ skill are overpowered and do tons of damage to enemies. It is highly recommended to get the Blasphemy Blade to start with this build, as the Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana and Impaler Spear will be very hard to get early in the DLC.

Then we will cast many Dragon spells and for that, we use the Dragon Common Seal found in the Helpless Cemetery. If you want to dual wield katanas, the Great Katana found at the Abandoned-Weak Village is perfect.

Dragon Warrior Build Spells and Enchantments in Elden Ring

We use the following spells/spells with this build:

  • Decay of Ezykiel (gives off rotten breath and causes scarlet rot)
  • Golden Vow (increases attack power and defense)
  • Flame, Give Me Strength (increases physical and fire-based attack power)
  • Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike (red lightning from above)
  • The Borealis Mist (Emits razor ice breath and causes frostbite)
  • Dragonmaw (bites enemies)
  • The Flame of Agheel (extinguishes flame)
  • Ghost Flame Breath (gives out ghost flame)
  • Magma of Teodorix (issues magma from above)

The majority of these are Dragon Communion spells that cause different status effects. These will be strengthened as the Dragon Communion seal is equipped. These spells can cause status effect stacks quickly and will definitely help you clear out enemy hordes quickly. Ezykiel’s Decadence is especially useful here as most bosses and enemies are weak to scarlet rot and will die in seconds.

The Ancient-Dragon Lightning Strike is the odd one out here considering it’s a Dragon Cult spell rather than a Communion one. But its area-of-effect damage is especially useful against dragons and bosses that move a lot and have a wide frame. You’ll find powerful DLC bosses like Bayle the Dread and Ancient Dragon Senessax are weak to it. using Golden Vow and Flame, Give Me Strength together for any encounter will stack the physical damage by 35%, so this is a must before you go to any boss.

Dragon Warrior Build Talismans and Great Rune in Elden Ring

We use the following Talismans for the construction:

  • Talisman 1: Godfrey Icon (increases charged spells and abilities by 15%)
  • Talisman 2: Faithful Canvas Talisman (increases the power of spells by 4%)
  • Talisman 3: Fragment of Alexander (greatly boosts the attack power of abilities by 15%)
  • Talisman 4: Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman (Reduces physical damage taken by 20%)

With the Godfrey Icon and Fragment of Alexander, you’re weapon skill and spells will have more damage when charged. Additionally, the Faithful Canvas TalismanThe boost of is slight but with the Dragon Common Seal it will work perfectly for the dragon spells we have. And, the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman adds to the physical damage negation we already had with the Dragon Form.

Best Dragon Warrior Wondrous Physick in Elden Ring

To strengthen the damage denial we have the Opaline Hardtear in the Amazing Physick that combines with the Greenburst Crystal Tear enhancing the endurance recovery rate. The latter is especially useful for the Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana (as well as the other recommended weapons) and the dragon spells as they will drain your stamina quickly.

Dragon Warrior Build Leveling and Stat Spread

In general, this is what your build should look like at level 200 as this is more suitable for endgame and DLC areas:

  • Vitality: 55
  • Mind: 36
  • Endurance: 20
  • Strength: 33
  • Skill: 50
  • Intelligence: 7
  • Faith: 60
  • Arcana: 18

This is just an approximation of course, and you can respect your needs. But, to get the most out of this build, this is generally what you should aim for. Faith is required for all spells and Arcane is required for the Dragon Communion. The Arcane is the minimum you’ll need to use all the spells mentioned above, but feel free to adjust it if you don’t need any of them. Vitality is important because since you will be using these dragon spells you will be open to a lot of hits and your balance will be basically zero (with the Dragon Form). Your first goal after 200 will be to level up Mind and Endurance as you will need these two to cast spells and use the weapon skills.

How to use Dragon Warrior Build in Elden Ring

You’ll be able to handle most enemy mobs and bosses with this dragon build, but you’ll still have a huge weakness: no composure. You will have to dodge and counter attack as much as possible. Fortunately, with the weapons we recommended normal enemies and groups of enemies will be down in seconds.

Before taking on a boss, use the Amazing Physique and then Golden Vow and Flame, Grant Me Strength for the attack boost. Start with a combo of light and heavy attacks followed by the weapon skill. Then, follow it up with any of the dragon spells you prefer. You won’t be able to use spells consecutively with bosses like Godfrey or Maliketh, who are fast, so this is where your melee weapons will shine.
