FFXIV players are finally getting the kappa glamor set they've been begging for
While FFXIV's Dawntrail expansion doesn't ship until late June (if you've pre-ordered), players have plenty to do in-game with event content. In fact, another event will end on the 15th of May is none other than the annual Make It Rain Campaignand this year it comes with one of the best surprises yet.
Those who go to the Golden Saucer and complete the latest quest line of the Make It Rain Campaign will be rewarded with the long awaited Kappa suit glamor set. Thanks to the wonders of data mining, much of the community knew this was coming, but didn't know exactly when.
While technically called the “Imp Suit”, most players know it as a Kappa thanks to both Final Fantasy lore and traditional Japanese folklore. Now it is ready to join the ranks of other eccentric costumes in the game such as the Pig Costume and Toad Costume and of course the unforgettable Namazu Mask. We fully expect to see Kappas flooding the streets of Limsa and every other popular city soon enough.
As it turns out, it wasn't just the players begging for the Kappa suit to become a reality. The father of Final Fantasy himself, Hironobu Sakaguchi, made a surprise appearance on stage at Tokyo FanFest earlier this year dressed head-to-toe in a hilariously accurate Kappa outfit. Dressed very convincingly, he implored the director of FFXIV Yoshi-P to hurry along with bringing the glamor to the game. Fortunately he won't have to wait much longer.
This year's Make It Rain Campaign continues approx two weeks until May 31stso don't wait too long to drop by the Golden Saucer for some extra wins and special rewards, which include one of the most absurdly adorable glamor sets in the game (seen above).
What is the Make It Rain Campaign event in FFXIV?
The Make It Rain Campaign is an annual event in Final Fantasy XIV that takes place at the Golden Saucer, and boosts all MGP rewards earned there by 50% for the duration of the event. It's a fantastic opportunity to expand your character's MGP wallet, especially right before the debut of Dawntrail.
Remember that Free Firms can also benefit by activating daily MGP boosts of their own to stack it up.
While the Make It Rain Campaign traditionally takes place during the Summer season, it's making a slightly earlier appearance this year, most likely due to a Dawntrail release at the end of June, and the Dragon Quest co-op event coming next month as well.
If you want to make this year's event, just go to Ul'dah – Steps of Nald and talk to Quevain at (X:9.4, Y:9.2) to take the “Of Impish Importance” search Full details are available via the FFXIV Lodestone website here.
