How to trigger the Absolute Darkness event in Fisch
The just a reason waiting around for the Absolute Darkness event is to catch the Ancient Depths SerpentAn exotic fish that is exclusive to the event.
Capturing the Ancient Profound Serpent requires specific conditions. It only spawns during the Absolute Darkness event at night, which is a rare event that you could expect around hours. If you’re having trouble getting to The Depths when the event is active, consider purchasing Sundial Totems of the cave on top of Sunstone Island; coordinates (-1220, 195, -1045). These totems cost 2,000 C$ each and allows you to manually change the in-game day/night cycle.
Sundial Totems are single use itemsand triggering the event can take many, many tries. In my experience, I went through over 20 Sundial Totems before finally encountering the Absolute Darkness event, so be sure to give it a try. You will be there for a while. Another important tip when using Sundial Totems is wait a few minutes after nightfall before activating another one. The Absolute Darkness event doesn’t always start right away because the sky cycle changes to night, so a little patience can save you from wasting totems unnecessarily.
Preparing for the Absolute Darkness event
Before going to The Depths, you will need The Key of Depthswhich is an item of Exotic rarity that you can obtain by fishing from it Strange Whirlpools or anywhere in Vertigo. Use a A magnet to bet luck when trying to shove one, and listen for a high-pitched sparkling ringing sound; this signals that you have attached a key. Once you have the key, use it to unlock the big, black and red gate that leads to The Depths. You can find this in Vertigo, surrounded by red crystals.
Remember that leaving or re-entering the game will reset your fra to Moosewood and lock the door again, forcing you to pick up another key.
I would also recommend investing in a Fish Radar; available at the Moosewood Docks for 8,000 C$. This is the just a way to find the spawn point for the Ancient Profound Serpent when the Absolute Darkness event hits, so you’ll be completely clueless without one.
Ancient Depth Serpent location
During the Absolute Darkness event, a faint yellow glow appears in a specific area on the right side of the island that has the merchant and fisherman on it. You can only see the glow if you Fish Radar is enabled.
The event lasts less than 10 minutes, and Ancient Depths Serpent has a preference for the Truffle Worm. Be sure to stock up on Truffle Worms before going to The Depths. You can buy Volcanic Geodes of the Traveling Salesman find this type of bait – although it’s lucky because not every geode contains Truffle Worms.
I recommend the Mythical Wand with either the Lucky or Hasty blessing to catch this fish. Lucky gives you 20% more luckand Hasty decreases your Lure Time by 55%. Be sure to equip yours Truffle Worm bait, too.
