Fortnite Reload isn’t the OG return you were hoping for

We all crossed our fingers, wishing for the return of the OG Fortnite, which is why the surprise of Fortnite Reload made us all jump for joy. However, we shouldn’t get our hopes up too high because this isn’t the OG Fortnite you might have expected.
Fortnite OG is something we’ve all been dreaming of for a while—the return of old locations, classic weapons and items, and just a simpler, more enjoyable time playing in general. Epic Games, however, was less concerned with looking at the past and instead working full speed ahead on the future of Fortnite, bringing new content, as we can see from the 2024 Roadmap. While Fortnite Reload is certainly a taste of that OG time, it’s not exactly the return we were all hoping for, mainly because it features more new than old.
Fortnite Reload brings back classic POIs, but they won’t be exact copies of the old ones. As stated by Epic Games themselves, they are “inspired” by the OG locations. They will be around a brand new “mini” map and will be smaller variations of the maps we’ve come to know and love. That’s why we can see some of them renamed as “Lil’ Loot Lake”.
The biggest reason that Reload is different from OG Fortnite is the new restart mechanic. This mod will focus more on this new feature than anything else. It allows players to restart unlimited times, as long as they have squads alive. They can keep going back into the game until the endgame starts and lower cooldown restart times based on their eliminations. This leads to the final point, which is that Reload will be a just a squad regime

You read that right. Fortnite Reload can only be played in Squads. This prevents the nostalgia of OG Fortnite for those players who usually join as a solo or duo. Although you will most likely be able to line up for the match without a full squad, you will still face full squads against you. This makes it a more challenging, team-focused mode.
These are some really cool, fresh ideas from Epic Games that continue to make Fortnite a constantly evolving game. However, if you’re hoping to return to the “good” days of Fortnite, you might be a little disappointed. You can appreciate OG weapons, items, and versions of those classic locations, but this will still ultimately be a whole new experience.
