With Kickstarter which ends on July 30, 2024, Hotel Galactic is a fully funded hotel management simulator with some amazing cozy vibes. Fans of Studio Ghibli can recognize the company’s influences in the game, as the developers are avid fans of the films.
In a recent live Q&A with Kalia, the creator of the community Facebook group, Comfortable PlayersThe founders of the studio behind Hotel Galactic have revealed more about their creation, including some features players can expect to see once Hotel Galactic is released.
As well as a general overview of the game, where Ancient Forge founders, Max and Dushan, talked about the efforts that went into the game to make it enjoyable for a range of players, the duo answered a question from someone on the YouTube live. chat about interactions with the hotel guests.
The individual, perhaps jokingly, asked if it would be possible to “pet” the hotel guests (an understandable question, they all look lovely). Kalia broadened the question – asking Max and Dushan if tapping on hotel guests will garner any kind of reaction.
Amazingly enough, it will. Dushan responded, letting viewers know that if they click on any of the hotel guests, they will “stand still and look at the camera, waiting for your decision (on) what to do with them.” Dushan went on to explain that you can let them cut if they are impatient or offer them a free meal if they are in trouble.
This touched on another question from the live, asking if the guests have feelings. Dushan confirmed that they have feelings, characteristics, and features. Max stepped in to let us know that they would also have “pets” for us to deal with.
I also had the opportunity to ask a question during this live Q&A, and I was not going to miss my chance to get more information. When I asked about the possibility of a demo being released in the future, Dushan said that they plan to have a demo of the game at the Tokyo Game Show (September 26-30, 2024), and a “public demo” on Steam for “some of the Steam Next Fest (events) happening.”
The next one Steam Next Fest is February 24 – March 3, 2025. There is also a second one operating in 2025 between June 9 – 16. Dushan and Max clarified that this was only a possibility, however, and there is no set date for a public demo. however.
Max then took over and said that they will have “different opportunities for people to get their hands on the game”, but didn’t mention anything other than Kickstarter. So, unfortunately, it’s likely that backers who didn’t choose the playtest options, and non-backers, won’t see much of the game until next year.
Hotel Galactic must enter Q4 2026with an Early Access release planned for Q2 2025.
