Genshin Impact Bedtime Story Archon Quest Sumerian message translation
A message, written in Sumerian, appears after you discover the identity of the missing person: Caribert, whose tragic life was at the forefront of the previous Archon Quest. When he transports you to a hidden place within his consciousness, he leaves a message for Atossa, who has been searching for him since his “disappearance”.
The above message, translated into English, reads:
Goodbye Atossa
I apologize
To introduce you to me
involuntarily
However, I don’t want to
you forget me
Who is Caribert in Genshin Impact?
Caribert Alberich was a Khaenri’an who was cursed to become Hilichurl and later was sacrificed to create the Loom of Fate, a tool that can be used to change Ley Lines.
The partially completed Loom of Fate was powerful enough to allow the remnants of Caribert’s consciousness to insert itself into the memories of the people of Vimara Village, giving him a short-lived experience of normal life. His impact on the village was great enough for them to send Commission requests looking for him as soon as he disappeared.
The dialogue lines of Caribert and Atossa heavily imply that they shared an intimate relationship within the invented memories. In his recollection of the people of Vimara Village, Caribert put his memories with Atossa front and center, showing the fond times they shared under their favorite tree. At the end of the story sequence, Atossa assumes she has been dumped and struggles to reconcile with Caribert “leaving with his family.” Caribert’s message strongly suggests that, until the moment his consciousness disappeared from the world, he still wanted Atossa to keep a fragment of him in her memories.
