If you spawn as a Human in GHOUL://RE, then you can’t rely on Kagune, instead you’ll have to create your own Quinque. Quinque are powerful weapons that help CCG investigators eliminate Ghouls. These weapons will serve as your best offense as well as defense. So, to help you get your hands on the best Quinque, we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide on how you can unlock and evolve a Quinque in GHOUL://RE.
How to unlock Quinque in GHOUL RE?
Unlike Ghouls, Humans are part of the CCG, also known as the Counter Ghoul Commission, in GHOUL://RE. So, rather than devouring, their priority is to eliminate Ghouls. While you will be at an inherent disadvantage compared to statistics, your Quinque can help you take down almost any Ghoul.
To unlock your first Quinque, you must complete a few steps. So, follow the steps mentioned below to unlock your Quinque:
- You must first reach the Rank 1 Investigator status and collect 1,500 yen (in-game currency). Once you have met these requirements, go to the CCG headquarters and speak to the receptionist at the entrance.
- You will then get ‘Briefcase item in your inventory which is the most essential tool to get your Quinque. Now, with the Briefcase, you have to to hunt a Ghoul who unlocked his Kagune.
- Once you drop the Ghoul. You may have to use the Briefcase on the downed Ghoul to extract their Kagune. If successful, you will get a random Quinque for yourself
Note that if you die while carrying the Briefcase, you will lose it and have to pay an additional 1,500 yen to get a new one. So, handle it with caution.
How to get a Standard Edition Quinque?
Before you can get your hands on a really powerful Quinque. You must go to CCG Headquarters and get ‘Standard Theme’ Quinque to begin with. CCG provides three Standard Issue Quinque options at a nominal fee of 100 yen each. Here are the weapons, and what they do:
- Tsunagi (Katana): Has an end-theme slash Critical ability. High burst damage.
- Ifraft and Abksol (Daggers): Has a spinning slash ability that teleports after a downslam.
- Senza (Spear): Can cause debuffs such as hunger loss or anti-healing after a running push attack.
You can buy these weapons on the top floor of the CCG base.
How to evolve Quinque in GHOUL RE?
Once you unlock your Quinque, that’s not the end. You will need to continuously upgrade it to keep up with the evolving Ghouls. Unlike Ghouls, you have to create the evolution of your Quinque rather than it happening on its own. So, you need to visit the second floor of the CCG HQ and talk to the NPC to open the art interface.
At first, you will only see basic materials in the art interface. To unlock specific Quinque recipes, you need ‘Blueprint’ items. Sketches are essential to creating a sophisticated Quinque. You can get them with both killing NPCs or from participating in events such as Artifact Capture.
Using Blueprint adds a random Quinque recipe to the research center, which will then appear in your crafting interface. You will also need collect various items and materials to create the Blueprint recipe, only then can you evolve your Quinque.
