GTA V Behind The Scenes Documentary Was Canceled By Rockstar Say Cast
Rockstar Games is known for being secretive about production on their games. Some would say they are the most secret game studio in the world. So much so that 20 years after release, they were upset with former director.
He shared some behind the scenes information about GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas a few months ago and within days Rockstar told him to stop and he deleted his blog posts. This is why it is surprising to hear that behind the scenes of GTA V was actually done at one point.
A making of GTA V documentary was filmed during the game's development by Rockstar Games following the iconic trio of actors who led the game's story. This was finally canned so the band revealed details about this project.
The 3 protagonists are together again
It's been a while since Ned Luke (Michael De Santa), Shawn Fonteno (Franklin Clinton), and Steven Ogg (Trevor Phillips) were all together. Ned and Shawn continued to do comic book meetings and signings but only recently did Steven re-join the crew for public appearances.
Their most recent event together was an autograph signing with the service fluently. Fans could request their autograph on various prints and then watch them sign the items on a live stream. In partnership with fluentlythe trio also did a Livestream of questions and answers to the general public hosted by Streamily executive Rob Fury.
Details on the canceled GTA V documentary
Spotted by @GameRollGTA on Twitter, during the Q&A the panel discussed the production of the game of their role and how it was to work on it. Ned got the ball rolling on the behind the scenes doc from saying “What's crazy is that we had that behind-the-scenes camera running the whole time and they never did anything with it. That would be gold”.
Steven follows it up by saying “I think at one point, aren't we discussing how cool it would be to do the making of… so at this point we'd have the making of GTA documentary”. Mr Luke said it was “so much fun” on set.
Fans will undoubtedly love this unprecedented look at the set of GTA V with its colorful cast of characters and when the actors come out of character. On the one hand, the secrecy of Rockstar is something like people. On the other hand, it limits how many great things we know. You can watch the full Q&A here which we'd recommend doing if you're interested in learning about the trio's experience making GTA V.
Funnily enough, it was only a few days ago that a rare blooper and outtakes from Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 were discovered. In-game audio with Arthur and Dutch can be heard in these newly unearthed files. You can listen to the closed behind the scenes of a modern title from Rockstar Games here.
Streamily's next GTA signing event is with Lamar actor Slink Johnson. You can buy your autograph from Slink here with our affiliate link. Disclosure: We receive a small commission on each order to help support our website.
