How to Break Out of Prison in Dragon’s Dogma 2
In Dragon’s Dogma 2, committing a crime will definitely earn you some time. But why serve your entire sentence, when I can show you how to get out of prison; just follow this guide and be on your way.
How to escape the Gaol of the castle in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Several things will arrest you in Dragon’s Dogma 2, aside from engaging in some ultra-violence. When you’re trapped in the castle at night, you’ll be arrested and locked up by the town guard, making some stealth quests more risky.
My immediate thoughts were leaning towards save-skimming, but this approach didn’t work this time, as I found out that the game auto-saved after my arrest, leaving me in Gaol with no equipment. Fortunately, there are at all three ways to avoid the hard time in Dragon’s Dogma 2:
- Bribery Priest
- Finding a Secret Passage.
- Utilizing the Gaol Key.
Bribing a warden to escape the castle’s Gaol in Dragon’s Dogma 2
One quick path to freedom in Dragon’s Dogma 2 involves a dialogue with the Guardian, where you can offer a bribe equal to half of your total gold. This method, although expensive, guarantees a quick release, allowing you to quickly enjoy the sweet taste of freedom and hamburgers.

An alternative escape involves a less expensive but more adventurous approach. Inspecting your cell reveals a weak wall section leading to the sewer tunnels. Following the main tunnel to the right eventually leads you to the outskirts of the Royal Quarter, offering a stealthy way out without financial loss. Just be prepared to punch some bats on your way out.
Using the Gaol Key to break out of Jail in Dragon’s Dogma 2
A separate yet viable prison escape method in Dragon’s Dogma 2 arises if you possess the Gaol key provided by Brant during the Meet Magistrate Waldhar quest. Upon arrest, you will discover that your character has hidden the key, allowing you to unlock the cell. Surprisingly, the guards ignore your newfound freedom inside the tower. Your opt-out options include the following options:
- North Tower, leading up to the Royal Quarter.
- South Tower, directing you outside the eastern walls of the Royal Quarter.
Note that certain dealers may even sell you a Makeshift Gaol Key for various prices. Such a key will get you out of your cell, but it is only a one time use as it will break after using it once. Using it will also somewhat limit your escape options, as the North Tower escape will be impossible due to a locked gate in your way.
