How to get all Zero Hour upgrades and catalysts in Destiny 2
Blast Perfected – some would say it’s a very accurate name for such a great gun in Destiny 2. With the re-release of Zero Hour, there are a bunch of new Internal upgrades and Catalysts that can also be crafted on this beauty! Here’s the lowdown on what’s available and how you can find them.
How do I update Epidemic Perfected in Zero Hour?
After clearing Zero Hour for the first time, you’ll gain access to two types of puzzles that offer different upgrades for your custom-made Outbreak Perfected.
The three vault puzzles found in both versions of Zero Hour will reward you with Intrinsic upgrades- which unlock new stats, barrels, magazines and stock perks on Outbreak itself, and give progress towards unlocking an exotic ship. Neat!
Certain steps of the Blast Refined quest line will give new catalysts that replace Outlaw on Outbreak Perfected. Here, we’ll look at how to do both of those for each set of updates as they roll out over three weeks.
Zero Hour Vault Puzzles Guide – Destiny 2
Each Vault Puzzle has two steps to follow. For the first step, you need to find an interactive panel hidden in Zero Hour itself. Activating this panel will start a timer called Temporary Relief Granted. Once you do that, you’ll have about a minute to shoot three special targets that can only be shot with Outbreak Perfected. The panel will display a symbol corresponding to each of the targets, which basically tells you which targets need to be shot in the correct order. Once you do that, the game will give a message saying “Sequence accepted.”
From there, you need to get to the Tower Vaults, which are located just after the floor tile puzzle towards the end of the mission. Since you cleared the first step, you should have access to a bunch of switches in the room. The switches must be activated in a certain order to unlock the vaults. There is also a screen showing a map and cipher for each vault found on the left side of the room, marking each vault with its own column. Look at the column that is connected to your selected panel, and read from top to bottom. The order of arrows and their colors will tell you the order of switches to activate. If you’re in a hurry, we’ve got some guide maps showing the order of each puzzle below.
How to solve the Week 1 vault in Zero Hour
The first panel can be found in the second combat encounter, which takes place in the old Tower Courtyard from Destiny 1. Once you crawl out through the tunnel at the entrance, turn around and jump up to the blue roof — the panel will be on a pillar on that roof. You will be able to see the panel with the SiVA symbol flashing on the screen. Once you activate the timer, three targets will appear around the Courtyard. They can be found at:
1. The far pillar on the left.
2. Behind the Eververse kiosk in the middle.
3. Under the crumbling cliff near the exit of the room.
After you complete this step, you will need to solve the vault puzzle for Week 1. It will be marked on the screen by the Square column next to the displayed map. Here is a map to show the resolved order of switches to activate:
Once you complete the change sequence, you will immediately be rewarded with your first Insider update for Outbreak Perfected.
How to solve the Week 2 vault in Zero Hour
The panel for the second Vault puzzle is located in the second hangar you drop into early in the mission. It is hidden in an an open vent located behind the white jump ship on the lowest floor. Just like Week 1, three panels will then appear, located at:
1. To the right of the panel, in a corner next to a yellow staircase.
2. On the second floor, behind another set of stairs in the middle of the room.
3. On a wall next to the 3rd floor, to the left of the vents.
Second verse, same as the first. Get to the vaults at the end of the mission, and activate the correct set of switches. The second set will go from the middle column found on the screen, marked with a Diamond.
Blast Refinement Walkthrough – How to get the Week 1 Catalyst for Zero Hour in Destiny 2
After you clear Zero Hour for the first time, Ada-1 will offer a quest called Blast Refined. Through this quest, you will have to complete a mixture of simple and definitely difficult steps that will reward you with new catalyst perks for this beautiful rifle.
The first step of this quest will have you head out to the Spaceport and collect Inert SiVA Clusters from killing Fallen. This step is pretty easy, and self-explanatory. The real trick is the step after this part.
After collecting your clusters, you will be prompted activate a pair of “Catalyst Switches” in Zero Hour anymore Legendary difficulty. Activating one will activate a timer to hit the other, so you have to be quick on this part. It might sound quite difficult on paper, considering all the confusing halls and vents you have to twist and turn, but this is luckily very easy! The switches seem always set on the main path forward – it’s just a matter of surviving an exotic mission on Legend difficulty with a 20-minute timer.
The first switch is in the room with four sets of pipes, on the wall next to the walkway in the middle.
The second switch is located to the left room right after this part where you jump across an aqueduct and up the right duct.
For this set of switches, I highly recommend activating these two in back order. Start with the second switch up the pipe, then drop down and activate the first switch. This is much faster and generally easier than just climbing from first to second.
After this, your quest will update to require Zero Hour clear on Legendary difficulty. You’ll be halfway done by this point, but being offered a chance for extra tries is always welcome. Completing this step will reward you with the Rapid Hit repair for Outbreak Perfected.
How to get the Week 2 Catalyst for Zero Hour in Destiny 2
The Week 2 set of steps for Outbreak Refined will be the same as before. Do another easy step for Ada-1, then it’s back to Legend Zero Hour.
The first part will have you collect Inert SiVA Clusters from killing Fallen in the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector. After this, it returns to the vents.
The first switch is located in the long, thin corridor with ledges on the side, inside the first alcove on the right.
The second switch is located nearby, just after that long hall. Drop into the next hallway, and you’ll find it hidden on the left.
This one is much easier than before; just activate the first switch and rush to the second. If you want, you can first clear the hall, open the security platforms, and then hit both switches. After that, you just have to clear Zero Hour on Legend again. Go back to Ada-1, and you will get the Rewind Rounds remount. me highly recommend rushing for this catalyst ASAP if you want to use Outbreak for endgame PvE activities, like this perk absolutely rocks.
Outbreak is really a perfect shooter with some perfect upgrades. For all the trouble you have to go through to put it out there, it’s a very worthwhile investment for any gamer. And with the final stages of Pantheon bearing down upon us, it could be the thing to help some raid teams get the job done. Good luck, Rangers!
