How to unlock Candles in Manor Lords
As of this writing, Candles are an item that you cannot currently craft in Manor Lordsyou can only get them by trading with your Trading Post(s). Since the game is in its first phase of Early Access, the ability to craft Candles simply hasn't been added yet.
We anticipate that it will be available soon, as the Development skill tree already contains both Beekeeping and Advanced Beekeeping, with the third level locked due to Early Access development. In the meantime, if you already have Apiaries set up, you can still sell the honey and wax they do with yours Market(s) and businessand import Candles if you wish.
How to stock up on Honey and Wax in Manor Lords
While candle crafting may not be a thing yet, you can still get started on building your waxworks if you want to. That means you will have to add Apiaries to your village/town which takes a few steps.
To get started, you'll need to update your settlement to at least Small Village (build 5 x Level 1 Burgage Plots), if not more. Each time you do, you'll get a Development Point spend on a unique type of infrastructure.
One option that is immediately available is Beekeepingwhich unlocks Apiaries in your Build Menu. These will supply your village/town with Honey, but remember don't build more than two of them, because the output is limited to two. You will also need 2 x Boards for each Apiaryso secure yours sawmill have some on hand.

After getting another Development Point you can then unlock Advanced Beekeeping (the next level that will allow your APIs to also produce wax). This is the basic ingredient for making Candles, and until it becomes an option in the game, you can sell or trade some of it to help raise your regional wealth and keep the rest in a Storehouse.
Alternatively, you may just want to hold off on Beekeeping altogether until they become fully productive in the game. There are other traits in the Development skill tree (eg – Coal Burning, Forest Management, Sheep Breeding) that are honestly more valuable to begin with.
