How to get Polychromes in Zenless Zone Zero

Polychromes are some of the most important resources in Zenless Zone Zero, as they can be traded for Master and Encrypted Master Tapes (gacha currencies), and Battery Charge (energy). If you’re running low on Polychromes, here are some quick ways you can restock.

The list below is based on information from the beta and may change slightly after Zenless Zone Zero is released. Additionally, if you’re a spender, you can buy premium currency that can be exchanged for Polychromes in the shop.

Howl’s Scratch Cards

Howl’s Newsstand offers patrons a free scratch card once a day (refreshes on server reset). Simply peel off the NXN section of the card to reveal a random image that will determine your reward for the day. If you’re lucky, three excited Howls will appear, rewarding you with 40 Polychromes.

Commissions

Go to the shelf to the right of the TV in the Video Store to check the list of Commissions for the day, which act as your journals. Completing them will earn you plenty of rewards, including 60 Polychromes and Inter-Knot Credit (account EXP). Don’t forget to click on the flame icon indicating the day’s activity level to claim rewards, as these are not automatically credited to your account. Commissions refresh on every server reset, so take advantage of the free EXP and Polychromes.

Proxy Primer

Go to the Inter-Node and select the Proxy Primer. The system allows you to claim rewards every time you raise your Inter-Knot level, which is the equivalent of your World level (Genshin Impact) or Trailblaze level (Honkai: Star Rail). Some of the level rewards include a nice chunk of Polychromes.

Additionally, don’t forget to complete the Trials on the left side of the Proxy Primer to get Polychromes and other awesome rewards, including Coup Ens (used to pull for Bangboos), Ribbons (for Signal Searches), as well as various upgrades. materials

Commissions

There are various types of Commissions in Zenless Zone Zero. The Story, Combat, and Exploration Commissions require you to enter Hollows and complete a set of objectives that will give you around 10 Polychromes each. Meanwhile, Meeting Commissions and Commissions that require you to do some small tasks in the overworld (like taking photos of shops) will give you a fixed number of Polychromes upon completion.

You can accept Commissions through the following means:

  • Talk to people with a blue exclamation mark on their head.
  • Go to the Help Request Information section of the Inter-Knot and accept jobs from desperate posters.
  • Check your DMs for commissions from brokers and other suspicious individuals.

Hollow Zero

Hollow Zero is a game mode reminiscent of Honkai’s Simulation Universe: Star Rail. Completing each battle the first time will reward you with a fixed rate of 80 Polychromes, among other items. Increasing your License Level (see bottom left of Hollow Zero screen) every time your level reaches a number divisible by three (three, six, nine, etc) and five (five, 10, 15, etc) will also reward you with Polychromes.

Each battle costs a certain number of Research Points and you can only accumulate 5,000 Research Points per week, so I strongly recommend putting Hollow Zero runs into your weekly routine.

Character Demo

Character demos are available whenever there is a new banner rotation. These give you the opportunity to test all the characters for rating to help you decide whether or not to pull for them. Only the outstanding five-star character will give 20 Polychromes plus upgrade materials as rewards.

VR Training

Interact with your VR Device in the Random Play store and click on the top right of the screen to enter the VR Training module. You can complete a series of combat tutorials and Agent Collaboration Exercises for characters you own to learn more about how to best use them in battle. Completing these challenges is a great way to learn more about ZZZ’s battle system, and you’ll be rewarded with 10 Polychromes and upgrade materials for your efforts.

Events

New Eridu’s arcade, God Finger, is an exciting place where you can play a series of mini-games. Complete Achievements for each game to get a Polychrome boost. Some limited time events will also be happening in the arcade, so be sure to take part in those for even more Polychrome rewards.

Commission Minutes

The Commission Log can be found on the shelf to the left of the TV in the Random Play store. Interact with it and click on the bottom left of the screen to open the Video Collection, where you can claim Polychrome rewards to get a perfect video.

Getting perfect videos is equivalent to completing all the objectives in the Hollow. There are separate rewards for each Commission type (Phaethon’s Story is Main Story Commissions).

Proxy Handbook

The Proxy Manual can be accessed by interacting with the Workbench in the Random Play store. It’s a compilation of all the tutorials you come across in the game. Click on all the tutorials with a “new” symbol and exit the page to get Polychromes for each tutorial you read.

The New Eridu City Fund is ZZZ’s take on the battle pass. It comes with two plans: the free Basic Plan and the paid Growth Plan. Only the Growth Plan, which costs real money to purchase, will directly reward you with Polychromes and Encrypted Master Ribbons upon reaching level milestones. However, the Basic Plan will reward you with some Master Ribbons that can be used in the standard gacha.
