In LEGO Fortnite, the Compost Bin is a unique machine that allows you to build different types of utilities including vehicles, power cells and other essentials. Here’s how to build and use a Compost in LEGO Fortnite.
Unlock the Compost Bin in LEGO Fortnite
The easiest method to unlock the Compost Bin is to get a Table and store it in your inventory. You can do this by creating a floor at a Lumber Mill in your base. Collect Wood by cutting down trees around your village, as this is the only ingredient needed to craft Boards.
After creating the Board, you will notice that the recipe for the Compost Bin is unlocked and the structure is ready to be built. Once the construction blueprint is unlocked, begin gathering the following materials needed to build the Compost:
- Sand – One a piece
- ground – Two pieces
- Fertilizer – Three pieces
- floor – Five pieces

How to get Biomass, Fertilizer and Soil with the Compost Bin
ground can be obtained by digging the ground with a Shovel a tool I recommend digging with a shovel in the Grassland biome to collect Soil quickly. Similarly, digging in the Dry Valley (Desert biome) brings Sand, another essential component for creating the Compost. As for Fertilizerit is common Creature Item which can be obtained from animals like chickens, Oxenand A sheep. Once all four ingredients are in your inventory, place and build a Compost Box at your base.
Biomass is a new uncommon rarity Processed Material which you can get by processing some items in the Compost Bin. For example, I used consumable items like Pizza, Pumpkin Pie and Spicy Burger to create Biomass. You can do the same or choose low-rarity consumables like Corn on the Cob, Fish Fillet, Grilled Meat and similar resources to get Biomass.
