During the beginning part of the first chapter in Black Myth Wukong, you will meet the Guardian of Black Wind Mountain. This character will soon transform you into a Golden Cicada after you reach the shrine Outside the Forest. Let’s find out if you can later transform back into the Cicada.
As you enter the next area of the Forst of Wolves, you will be transformed by the dwarf into a Cicada. This is a one time trick he teaches you so you can sneak past the enemies, most importantly the Wandering Wight boss walking around in the forest. Once you de-transform into your regular monkey form, there is no way to go back into the Golden Cicada here. I tried respawning at the shrine but it didn’t work either, but hopefully, we get this transformation spell later in the game.
How to sneak past Wandering Wight in Black Myth Wukong
You’ll soon encounter the boss Wandering Wight, who can be challenging to defeat, but you can sneak past him in Cicada form if you keep a good distance. If you’ve de-transformed, you can still slip past undetected. Wait for the Wandering Wight to walk in the opposite direction and run to the left (see the image above). Enter the small passage and you will be safe from there. I do recommend coming back later and fighting the boss to get some cool items and points.
How to transform into Black Myth Wukong
Although you cannot transform back into the Golden Cicada, you can obtain spells to assume other forms in Black Myth Wukong. In the same area, instead of following the straight path, turn left and you will encounter a giant meditating wolf—Guangzhou (see the first picture). Learn his attack patterns and you should be able to defeat the boss in a few tries, if not the first. Pick up his dropped weapon (second image) and you will add the Red Tides enchant your character. Using this transformation spell, you can turn into Guangzhi for a short moment and use his attack techniques.
