How to stop guards from attacking you during The Cage Magistrate quest in Dragon's Dogma 2
If you enter the prison to find the Cage Judge in Dragon's Dogma 2, guards will attack you on sight. This is not a bug, as many players thought, but rather a reasonable behavior of a guard who sees a stranger wandering in a prison; however, how to stop it?
How to hide past the guards in Vernworth prison in Dragon's Dogma 2
This quest was confusing because it starts with a guard at the entrance of the prison saying that he is waiting for you and you are free to enter. But we must understand that only this guard was instructed by Captain Brant, and all the others. don't know who you are.
If you are attacked, there is nothing stopping you from fighting back and killing the guards; but if you survived the battle and left, from now on you would probably be seen as a criminal by most NPCs in town. This will lock you out of dialogues and other guards will attack you when you are on the street. The best way to avoid this is to hide past the guards first.
remember sleep in an inn before attempting a difficult questbecause you can always go back to that safe point if things get bad.
Once inside the prison, you can walk behind the guards or wait until they are out of sight to move through the dungeon quietly, but the easiest way is to disguise yourself as a guard. To do this, you need a set of guard armor called The Marching Armor.

You can buy the armor at Philbert's Sundries (to the left of Bjorn's Armory), or you can get it for free during the quest Disa's Plot if you go to the castle at night and loot a chest in the guardhouse (shown in picture). The set consists of three parts:
- Marcher's helmet
- Marcher's Armor
- Marcher's Cuisses
wearing those, guards will not attack you during any of the quests that have you infiltrating Vernworth Castle.
