The best ways to win the costume contests in The Haunt 2024
A good number of the community who submit captures for Roblox’s The Haunt event use Dress to Impress to create their costumes for free. Those who don’t use DTI send pictures of various characters from different games, or they use their own items from their account.
The downside of that last option is that all the decent Halloween stuff costs Robux, which costs real money. That’s already a problem in The Haunt because you have to pay for many of the “prizes”.
If you want to participate for free and actually create a costume instead of using one of the creepy creatures from various games that participate in The Haunt, you’ll need to use Dress to Impress.
creatures
The theme for the first day of The Haunt is “Creatures”.
Luckily, DTI has plenty of new Halloween items that can help you create a spooky look that’s sure to send shivers down the spines of other players. The trick is to take the photo in an area that is also spooky – unfortunately, the special camera for The Haunt is missing in the new DTI Halloween Lana Lore quests. However, it remains in the lobby, the waiting area for the chapters, and the dressing room!
A really cool thing you can do with the blood drop necklace is change the chain to your avatar’s skin color so the blood looks more purposeful. There are many makeup styles that came with the Halloween update that also suit a creature.
You just need to be creative with it. Think mermaid, zombie, ghoul, vampire… Use many of the same color palette and mix it with black accents to get a powerful look.
Then, it’s about everything using the environment you have. The dressing room does not work for a creature costume, but the lobby and chapter waiting room do.
I dressed up as a mermaid and angled my capture so the “camera” was under the water. Change the environment from day to night, and done!
beautiful
Nice costumes are much easier in Dress to Impress. These are very common, which can sometimes make them a little boring. But, it will make your second day.
DTI has many nice clothesBut I’m partial to the asymmetric hem dress that gives off 50s vibes. I added some blue and white gingham to the main part of the dress, and then added some Wizard of Oz magic with some bright red heels.
I just needed to then wait for the voting to end to get a nice shot in the lobby of some flowers.
It’s a very Halloween version of Dorothy, but it’s beautiful and that’s what matters.
Use lots of pastel colorsfeminine accessories, and go for a nicer face when choosing your makeup.
Villains
Villians was a really fun category to create a costume. On the back of my cute Dorothy inspired outfit, I was still thinking about musicals and that pushed me in a Disney direction.
I chose Snow White’s Wicked Witch as my inspiration for the Villians category, but there are so many Disney villains which you could use to create your outfit in Dress to Impress! Cruel comes to mind, especially with the big, fluffy coat and hat. There are also some discolored hairstyles in DTI that would be right for Cruella.
If you don’t want to go with a Disney villain, you could choose a more stereotypical Halloween villain. Maybe try some headless horseman where you dress in black and hold a pumpkin by your side, or to recreate Lina from the Woolen lore.
orange
I feel like many people will automatically reach to pumpkin for the Orange category, so it matters how you build your outfit around it.
I wanted some circus aesthetics to my looks, but I also thought of Caesar from The Hunger Games and how he always had big, exaggerated hair, and was often in a suit. I took those elements and raided the new Halloween stand from the center of the Dress to Impress dressing room (near the menswear section).
This look actually got me in the first place when I used it in DTI so I could take photos of it later. That was a very welcome surprise!
scary
The Scary category is probably the most difficult of the five categories to create in Dress to Impress. I would advise going for “worrying” super “scary”, simply because of the patterns and clothes you can get at DTI. I play without VIP,
My favorite thing about this… Admittedly weird outfit is the hidden eye on the waist. The more you look at the costume, the weirder it gets – and the eyes are just a little off *shudder* on clothing
The pattern on the wings is the same as the one on the main body of my avatar’s outfit, which I liked because it carries that shade of pink from the corner of your eye. Well, “like” is a strong word. It worked for the costume, and made me wince the more I thought about it, so I knew I made the right decision.
It’s hard not to repeat your ideas with the Creature, Furry and Scary categories. They are all very similar and you could use the same outfit for all three.
Remember you don’t needs use Dress to Impress. From what I’ve seen of offers while voting, many players are too taking catches in the game of things that scare them. So, if you don’t play DTI, you’ll still be able to create some spooky captures for The Haunt 2024.
