If you AFK next to fighting Echoes in Wuthering Waves, you can still get the drops
Sometimes, you’ll find Echoes in Wuthering Waves that fight each other. This only happens when two types of Echoes appear next to each other that are not similar Echoes. When these Echoes start fighting, you can wait out the battle and still get the Echo drops from them if there are any.
For example, a group of Echoes containing Fusion Dreadmanes and Havoc Dreadmanes will typically not fight each other, but another Echo wandering close to Dreadmanes will find itself surrounded. You can go AFK during these types of fights and come back to potential Echo drops.
This works best when you’re in target range of the Echoes (where you can see their health bars), but far enough away that you won’t draw them to you while you can’t defend yourself.
To take advantage of this, you’ll need to find a group of Echoes that are already fighting. These aren’t everywhere in Huanglong, so it’s best to do a little research and map out some places that are sure to have incompatible Echoes.
There are a few places I’ve found on the map that almost always have fighting Echoes:
1. The waterfall at Gubei Pass, which has two Gulpuffs and two Chirping Echoes spitting water at each other.
2. East of Qichi Village, just off the path, there is a Havoc Dreadmane and three Sabyr Boar Echoes that occasionally fight. Sometimes the boars aren’t there, but the Scarecrow always respawns in the same place.
3. On the coast of the Tiderise Cliff, you can find two Fusion Dreadmanes and a Havoc Dreadmane beating a Spearback Echo.
To use the Tiderise Cliff Echoes as an example of this feature in the game, here are the battle Echoes I mentioned above. I flew down from the cliff and saw them engaged in battle, so I knew this was my chance to land and stop paying attention for a few minutes.
I watched the Spearback lose to the Earthmen, and Echo was brought down without my Rover getting involved at all. (If anyone needs further proof, my health status is the same in both pictures.)
You can also get Echo drops from battles with Echoes and Midnight Rangers, as well as Echoes fighting Exiles and other human enemies.
The Echoes that drop will follow the Echo Pity system, so be aware of that if you’re someone who checks.
