Infestation Origins Beginners Guide – Weapons, Perks and Bosses

Infestation: Origins is an indie survival horror game where you have to destroy Steamboat Willie among other creatures. Since you don’t get too much of a tutorial, you might be looking for some helpful tips to get you started.

Things to know before starting Infestation Origins

The basic cycle through indie horror games usually takes time to complete, and Infestation: Origins is no different. Here are each of the steps to get you a completed contract.

  • Select a load. Change weapons, clothes and traps.
  • Select a contract.
  • Once in the contract, you will collect key cards to enter new locations.
  • Each new location must be cleared of enemies and generate points
  • Find a fuse and place it in the fuse box for the area you just cleaned.
  • Find another key card for that area.
  • Open the maintenance room for that area.
  • Use a crank on the pipes in the maintenance area to clean it completely.
  • Repeat those steps for all areas.
  • As soon as you start unlocking later levels, it will release Willie into the map, and he will chase you. Opening the Common Room in level 1 will free Willie.
  • Once all areas are clear, you will be able to remove Willie and finish the contract.

In the Willie level, the first four key cards always appear in the same four places. They will always be the same four keys in the same places, but all the rest of the keys will have random locations.

  • The first key will always be in the Control Room on the desk with all the fuel containers. This is the main A Keycard.
  • The key card to enter B is on a cart in room A. If you enter the room, it will be on the right side.
  • The key card to utility room A will be just inside section B on the floor to the left.
  • The key card to the Common Room will be in utility room A in the very center of the room.

Holding objects and using them

You can hold up to three different types of objects at once. You have room for one med, one extra fuel canister and one fuse or crank. You can also hold down as many keys as you want at the same time.

  • Medkits are automatically used.
  • You can hold more than one key card, but key cards are only used once.
  • When inserting fuses, be sure to aim for the correct chamber or you may waste it. It will not automatically go into the location of the room you just vacated.
  • You can only hold one crank or one fuse at a time.

How to kill bosses

You can’t kill Willie or the Moth Man without clearing all the areas first, but you can drive them away. The best way to drive them off is to use your weapon; most traps don’t work the same as just firing a weapon at them to get them off your back.

Fastest way to earn money in Infestation: Origins

There is no real quick way to make money in Infestation: Origins. The only thing you can do to get coin is to complete contracts. You don’t get partial money for half-completing contracts, so make sure you do the contract easy enough for you to complete it. I wouldn’t recommend picking up yellow or red contracts until you can buy some upgrades for your weapon. Contracts have five different metrics, and each metric can have a level from one to five (one being the easiest while five is the highest.

  • Pest Health: Health bar from non-boss enemies.
  • Reaction: How quickly non-boss enemies respawn in nests.
  • Nest quantity: How many nests there are in which pests will respawn.
  • Pest Speed: How fast the enemies move around the map.
  • Nest growth: How hard it is to break the nests with your weapons.

The easiest of all the contracts will have a green label on them, and they will set you back around $270. There are also orange contracts that medium difficulty, then hard contracts are red. The highest difficulty red contracts can draw almost $600 for Willie’s level.
