How to use Trading codes in The Indigo Disc Pokémon Scarlet and Purple

To use trading codes in The Indigo Disk Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you must have an internet connection and make sure you can connect to the Poké Portal. The Trade codes are what you put in the Link Code and define the number of the Pokémon based on their Pokédex number.

  1. Fire up Pokémon Scarlet or Violet (whichever you have), and load your save file.
  2. Once everything has loaded, press X to open the Main Menu.
  3. Make sure you are connected to the internet. In this case, I recommend using a LAN connection to prevent interruptions during the business process. Additionally, you can press the L button to connect to the internet.
  4. Choose Poké Portal in the Main Menu
  5. Select the Set Link Code option, and enter the trade codes above
  6. Choose Start Searching

What are the trading codes in The Indigo Disk Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Trading codes are essentially modernized versions of the GBA binding; only this time, these codes mean the Pokédex Number of the Pokemon (ie, Bulbasaur is 0001 on the Pokédex.) Unlike older trading methods in Pokémon games, you can now specify the Pokémon you want. For example, if you have a Bulbasaur and want to trade it for a Squirtle, the trade code you should use is 0001-0009.

Think of business codes like rooms; each code has a specific Pokemon that a player is looking for, in line with what they offer. However, you can sometimes run into people trying to trade the same Pokemon as you. If this happens, simply cancel the trade and enter the code again.

Be careful, like some players can be cheated with this method, and I recommend you always check the Pokemon you are trading against the Pokemon you will receive. I made this list using the information Austin John Plays provided on YouTube.
