Manor Lords developer urges players to stop messing with city walls
Manor Lords early access isn't even out yet, but developer Slavic Magic is already asking players to stop cheesing. Trying to find a way to beat the system, content creators and journalists who had first access started building walls around their cities using the castle planner, thus breaking the game.
Taking the concept of a “sandbox game” to another level, players used castle building tools in a way the developer hadn't considered. Castle walls should not go around the town because this creates logistical problems for villagers. But it also confuses attackers, which is a good enough reason to look for a loophole.
While it's understandably problematic, it's still a fun way to cheat the game, especially since this is a single-player game, so no harm, no foul. If you are curious about what a cheese with city walls looks like, you can see our screenshot below. Of course, don't try this on your home farm!

So be kind, stop being cheesy, and be patient, because reinforcements are on the way. (And where there are walls, there are siege engines, so feel free to add them, or else players will probably find a way to use bulls to destroy fortresses!). Manor Lords early access is coming to Steam and Game Pass on April 26, 2024.
When the developer asked players to refrain from doing so, the community reacted as you might expect:
