Minecraft Live brings a terrifying new biome, the Knari, and Hardcore Bedrock
The 28 September Minecraft Live brings with it the semi-leaked new biome, a terrifying enemy mob, and the arrival of Hardcore Mode to Minecraft Bedrock.
Minecraft’s new Pale Garden biome
It’s been just over a year since Cherry Groves was added to Minecraft, making the new Pale Garden biome a welcome upcoming addition to the game. Unlike the bright Cherry Forest, the Pale Garden is a desaturated and eerie biome. The blocks created for it are almost completely colorless with a palette ranging from white to dark gray. The new Hanging Moss blocks hinder your ability to see past the trees, adding to the creepiness of the forest. All of these features make the Pale Garden visually feel like something straight out of Silent Hill. I’m sure the biome and its blocks will be used for a variety of things Minecraft horror themed adventure maps when released.
Even if you’re not into scares and scares, the Pale Garden will be a welcome upgrade. This is because of the new blocks it will introduce. In particular, many players (myself included) are excited about the new Pale Oak wood set. While the bark on the Pale Oaks is dark, the actual wood is white The color of this wood set makes it great for all types of construction. Use Pale Oak blocks with darker woods for a nice contrast, pair it with other Pale Oak blocks for a spooky vibe, or combine it with cherry wood for a nice look. The possibilities are exciting and endless.
While the Pale Oak blocks are the most exciting, the new Hanging Moss and gray moss carpet blocks will be just as fun. Hanging Moss drapes down from the trees of the Pale Garden and is transparent but thick. Like shiny berries, it can hang from any block if there is space. While the new moss carpet blocks have not been explicitly named, they have a fun feature of their own. Putting them down close to a wall, they create particles going up the wall as if they spread. It’s a unique effect that will add an interesting touch to greenhouses, spooky buildings and anything else you add the rug to.
The Cracking mob
A new scary biome wouldn’t be complete without the crowd that makes it so scary. The Pale Garden is home to the Crackling, a nearly indestructible mob that only attacks when you’re not looking. Its release was inundated with comparisons of the Cracking to Doctor Who’s Weeping Angels. If you are not familiar with the franchise, you can think of it as Coil Head from Deadly Company. Keeping your eyes on the monster will prevent it from attacking you. However, you will be vulnerable to other monsters in the forest, including other Knars. To make matters worse, you can’t kill the Cracker outright. Instead, you will have to find its heart hidden in the trees and destroy it. This sounds like a simple task, as hitting the Squeak will send a trail of items leading you straight to its heart. However, you will find the task difficult when you have to switch between watching the Crackle, following the particles and mining the heart while avoiding the rest of the mobs in the forest.
Minecraft Bravery Packs Update – Hardcore Bedrock and Bundles
The announcement of Bundles and Bravery was one of the most exciting parts of Minecraft Live. This update will bring the much loved Hardcore difficulty mode to console, mobile, and Minecraft for Windows players. Hardcore Mode will work exactly as it does for Java players. The world will be set to Hard difficulty and all players will appear with only one life to live. Whether you choose to bide your time to gather resources to survive or throw caution to the wind to live this single life to the fullest, every Hardcore world will be an enjoyable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
If you’re like me, you spend the beginnings of each Minecraft world stuffing your pockets with whatever you can find. I tend to wander until I find the perfect spot for my base, so I grab everything in sight in case I don’t find it later. Unfortunately, this means I quickly run out of storage space and have to choose which items to keep and which to leave behind. Packages is Minecraft’s solution to these early game inventory problems. A single package can hold up to 64 of any number of items. For example, in the image above various flowers are dropped into the package to free up over a row of inventory space. Since they only require one leather and one string to craft, they are the perfect early-game replacement for Shulker boxes.
No release date has been confirmed for the Bundles of Bravery update. However, since the Minecraft Livestream said that these drops will be released in the next few months, they should be out before 2025.
