Minecraft Ominous Trials: How to start, what they are and all the rewards

The new Trial Chambers in Minecraft bring fresh new activity to what has otherwise been a rather stale mid-game for many years now, and it’s a welcome change indeed. However, in addition to the typical Trials that one might find, there are also the “Unlucky” Trials. So, what are these?

What are Ominous Trials in Minecraft?

Inauspicious Trials are a variation of the regular Trials in Trial Chambers. They offer a much greater challenge but also much better rewards for those brave enough to overcome them. Mobs spawned in one of these Trials will be much more challenging opponents, with Zombies and Skeletons wearing more armor than normal (typically even enchanted) and the Trial Spawner himself even blasting you with potions and projectiles.

As with regular Trial Spawners, defeating the mobs from one of these has a chance to spawn Ominous Key on cooldown, although this is not a guarantee, and you may have to fight through multiple waves.

Once you have your key, you will need to find Ominous Vault to be able to claim your loot. Note that Ominous Vaults are usually more hidden than regular Vaults, so you’ll need to give the place a proper look first.

How to start an ominous trial in Minecraft

To start an Inauspicious Trial in Minecraft, you will first need to get the Bad Omen debuff. This is the same debuff that is used to initiate attacks in Villages, and you get it by killing Thief Captain (The ones who carry those big idiot looking around banners), and collect the new ones Ominous Bottles they carry with them.

Drinking one of these will give you a Bad Luck that can be used in a Trial Chamber to turn the regular Trial Spawners into Bad Trial Spawners.
