Long-range kills are returning to Fortnite thanks to the Heavy Impact Sniper Rifle. As expected, players have different opinions, as a dominant one-shot-kill weapon can impact the game significantly. For better or for worse, sniper mode is back and killing it!
While we still don’t know much about the new sniper rifle, it’s safe to say that having such a powerful weapon in a Fortnite open world can break the game. The Heavy Impact Sniper Rifle sounds very similar to the Heavy Sniper Rifle that was once very popular. According to Shiina Fortnite Leakerthis new weapon is in the works for a later date, possibly Chapter 5, Season 4.
It is clear that this rifle would further reward players who consistently get accurate headshots. It would be a high-risk, high-reward weapon that separates skilled players from randoms jumping around with a shotgun. Also, the Heavy Impact Sniper Rifle could be effective in damaging structures. This could be useful for taking down enemy builds, creating openings, or pressuring opponents hiding behind cover.
Having said that, a bunch of snipers looking for targets is not how many Fortnite fans would describe a fun match. Also, if you can kill an enemy from a long distance, almost all weapons will be obsolete. However, this can be done on purpose to force players to use vehicles while moving and build structures to protect themselves. Remember that the current season introduced vehicle attachments that bring a new dimension to (off) road warfare.
I found new vehicle combat with mounted guns entertaining so I’m looking forward to hunting snipers. However, sniping isn’t easy, and it can leave you vulnerable, as there’s always a chance for someone to kill you while you’re looking for a target.
