Red Dead Redemption 2 Gets New Update, Patch Notes Released By Rockstar Games

A new Red Dead Redemption 2 patch has just been released by Rockstar Games along with a Christmas themed event month in Red Dead Online. We have all the details on what this update is for as the patch notes have also been shared by the company.

Even though Rockstar hasn’t made new major content updates for years, they continue to release patches every now and then Event Months. Only this year has seen some updates. The highlights included FSR 2.2, HDR10+ GAMING support and the stability issue fixed. Although custom Posse and Horse names were removed from public view in the previous update angering Red Dead Online fans.

The latest update that Rockstar released on December 3rd is small but with only a few improvements and changes. It’s a small upgrade in terms of size. The patch notes posted by Rockstar Games on their support center are quite obscure but can be found below.

Patch Notes

(December 3, 2024) – General

  • Fixed an issue that resulted in exterior lighting not displaying correctly during interior cutscenes
  • Improved frame pacing during cutscenes
  • Improved Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) functionality
  • General fixes and improvements to stability

It’s great to see framerate issues resolved and Dynamic Resolution Scaling improvements. Perhaps the game will run at a higher resolution rather than dropping on the current gen consoles and even the PS5 Pro. Although it’s still a shame no 60FPS chip was given to the current gen consoles. They are all more than capable of doing so.

Last month, it was the 4th most downloaded PS4 game in the US, Canada and 3rd in Europe. Red Dead 2 has now reached 67 million sales. Learn more about last quarter of Rockstar’s financials here.
