Remnant 2 Boss Rush Guide – Rewards and Buffs
In Remnant 2’s Dark Horizon DLC, you will be able to access a unique new game mode called Boss Rush. In these, you will be able to fight against a succession of named Elites and bosses to farm certain resources and relics.
Boss Rush Modes Guide – Remnant 2 Dark Horizon
Boss Rush is a test of boss after boss used to farm for items. There are three levels of Boss Rush, each having more bosses than the previous level and also more rewards. Here are all three levels and what they require to complete.
- Triple Threat: You face three bosses in a row with an elite between each.
- Trial By Fire: There are six bosses in a row in this one, and then it ends with Annihilation.
- The Gauntlet: In this one, you destroy 16 bosses, then have to remove Annihilation at the end.
In each of the above tests, you can also choose a difficulty level. Higher difficulty levels give better rewards and more XP. These are:
- A survivor: Normal mode.
- veteran: Hard mode.
- a nightmare: A challenge mode for anyone who is fully decked out.
- Apocalypse: The tagline for this mode is just “Good luck”, so you can kind of guess what that’s going to be like. Not for the faint of heart for sure.
How boss rushes work in Remnant 2
First, you’ll have to take down several normal enemies and a named Elite; it always seems to be Disgust. After the death of the Elite, you will have a short grace period where nothing will appear to give you some time to find the Altar and any treasures. Once you’ve cleared all the items, you can move on to the next room, or you can stay a while to farm Mod powers or ammo for the boss.
Almost any boss can spawn for the boss rushes with the exception of Annihilation. Annihilation doesn’t seem to appear at all in Triple Threat, and it’s always the final boss for both Trial By Fire and The Gauntlet. Once you defeat the boss, you will be healed from all status effects (at least in Survivor mode; this may not apply to harder modes). Bosses do not restore any of your Mod power or ammo.
Once the boss is down, you can go to the Altar and get sand; you can find the Altar by looking for its special icon on the mini-map. This sandbox will last until the end of the Boss Rush. There will also be a treasure chest somewhere on the map that contains a Mutator. If you already have than Mutator, the chest will give you a Corrupted Lumenite Crystal instead.
The second round will start after you go into the next room; you will again have to destroy a bunch of enemies, then an Elite, then the boss. This will repeat until you run out of bosses. A quick note about bosses: while you earn some rewards and XP from bosses, you won’t get any weapons or bosses from them, at least on the lower difficulties. You still need to farm them the usual way in the world to get those.
Boss Rushes rewards in Remnant 2
There are many items that you earn or can farm from Boss Rushes over and over again. Even on the easiest level, you’ll be able to fill your inventory with all sorts of useful things. These include:
- Mutants
- Rings
- Corrupted Lumenite Crystals
- Random consumes
- Relic Dust
- Corrupt Fragments
- XP
What is the best build for Boss Rush in Remnant 2?
There is no best build per se for Boss Rushes. You mainly want to stick with the build you’re comfortable with, but with one key thing: you need something to help you with ammo. The Boss Rushes don’t have a lot of ammo around, and you might find yourself without any bullets by the end if your gun isn’t effective.
To help with this ammo shortage, I recommend the Galvanized Resupply Band ring or the Zero Divide Amulet, depending on what equipment slots you have available to you. This will help alleviate the ammo shortage in these runs. Another thing you want to make sure you have is some form of consistent self-healing, especially if you’re running these alone.
One thing I noticed with the Boss Rushes is how great it was for leveling new Archetypes. If you show up on one Archetype that you haven’t used much yet, like your brand new Warden Archetype from this DLC, you’ll be able to reach level 2 in basically one run of Triple Threat on Survivor. It’s great for getting those first few levels in any new build you want to try. You can also remove one of your Archetypes to make sure all the XP goes to the one you want to level faster.
All fans in Boss Rush – Remnant 2
there are many many buffs available in Boss Rush. The number of unique buffs you can have is limited to five with +5 to each buff, so once you get the first ones, you’ll only see those from then on. While this list won’t have them all, these are the favorites I’ve seen while playing the DLC so far (check back for updates).
- Mobile Hands: Buffs reload speed
- Hexer: When you take direct damage, you fire a grenade thing
- hardened: Increases damage reduction
- Healer: Increases healing efficiency
- crazy: Skill cooldown reduction
- Woodcutter: Increases attack speed
- Renewal: Increases health regen
- Vortex: Chance to spawn a hole on hit
- Vitality: Increases maximum health
- Accuracy: ?
- explosive: Enemies explode when killed, creating AOE damage (this one didn’t seem to work for me, but it may have just been bugged)
- speed: Increases movement speed
- Guard: ?
