Rockstar Games Ready to Launch Nintendo Switch perks for GTA+

Rockstar Games seems to be preparing access to its Nintendo Switch titles with a GTA+ membership. This will add to the growing list of benefits for the service as Rockstar looks to continue its growth.

The GTA Online subscription service offers full access to several Rockstar Games titles as one of its many benefits. The full list currently is Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, Liberty City Stories, Chinatown Wars, Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire. Bully is also confirmed to join the service sometime this year.

The GTA+ webpage has a carousel of the titles included in the service along with logos for the platforms they’re on. For example, the GTA Trilogy is currently on Xbox and PlayStation, Liberty City Stories and Chinatown Wars are on Android and iOS. Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire are both on Xbox and PlayStation. You can see a picture of what it currently looks like below.

However, a Rockstar insider Thesis2 noticed the GTA+ website backend updated to include the Nintendo Switch logo for select games. Rockstar Games has three titles on the Nintendo Switch: Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

All three of these games have the Nintendo Switch logo next to the PlayStation and Xbox logos on the non-public version of the web page. This suggests that Rockstar Games will soon allow players to download the Switch versions of these games if they have an active GTA+ membership. Below is an image of Tez2 showing the updated GTA+ page.

How will it work?

Some players are confused as to how this will work since these titles cost money to download on the Nintendo eShop. It’s possible Rockstar will launch “free” versions of these games, so a new product listing for the exact same game that anyone can download.

After downloading, you will be logged into your Rockstar Games account with an active GTA+ membership and you will be able to play the games in full; much like the GTA Trilogy on mobile is handled with Netflix.

Given that Rockstar has already put the Nintendo Switch logo on the website, I’d imagine we’re not too far from finding out and making it official. It’s possible that it’s coming as part of next month’s GTA+. The current GTA+ month ends on July 31st; just a few weeks away. We’ll be covering any changes to GTA+ right here on RockstarINTEL.
