Call of Duty will return to the Xbox Showcase on June 9, preparing to unveil the new entry in the franchise. Some fans work hard scouring the press for the tiniest hints; others are already detailing their hopes and dreams for the upcoming reveal.
Reddit User AngryJames907 jumped on the Call of Duty subreddit to ask the community which game was highest on their wish list for the upcoming showcase on June 9th. They started the conversation by listing some of the most requested games in the franchise.
- Call of Duty: Gulf War
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 1/2 Remastered
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Remaster
- Call of Duty: World War I
Community members quickly discarded their wish list. AngryAssyrian immediately jumped into the conversation saying, “Gulf War or Black Ops 2 remastered, I don't want to see another Infinity Ward game for a while.” A large majority of fans gave this comment their approval, agreeing that the community has seen too much of IW for the time being.
Treyarch is expected to spearhead the next entry in the series and I can't wait to experience what they've cooked up. Black Ops 4 may have been a big miss from fans, but the developer still has goodwill from the community to develop Black Ops Cold War.
User Rizlxr broke the conversation with one of the most requested remasters in the franchise: Call of Duty Black Ops 1 and 2, saying, “BO1/2 Remastered. Biggest cod ever made.” It's been over 12 years since those masterpieces were released and fans still look back on that golden age, wishing they could return to those late night gaming sessions.
Not all of the community's responses are gushing about their favorite CoD. User jmh0403 wrote a comment that made me laugh: “Thanks for using the highest quality images you could find.”
Even in a discussion of hopes and wish lists, there are some in the community who have lost all love for the developers. User Dylan_The_Great put down a realistic take, saying, “Just give me the remaster. I don't trust any of these guys to create anything decent anymore.”
I'd love to recapture those glory days in Black Ops 1/2, but I wouldn't mind exploring the Gulf War with some actual gameplay. We'll just have to wait and see what Treyarch cooks up and whether or not the community is right on the money with their guesses.
