With tons of stuff to dig up, treasures to discover, and things to remember, it can be quite overwhelming for players, especially beginners, to make consistent progress. So, to help you with that, here is a complete beginner’s guide to Dig It outlining the best tips to help you get rich.
Dig It Beginners Guide – Top Tips And Tricks
When starting out in Dig It, once you’ve completed the tutorial, finding what to do next can be quite confusing. With so much going on, feeling lost can be quite common. But, to help you recover from this and actually progress, we’ve listed all the essential tips for beginners in Dig It. These include everything from shovels, loot, and how to make the most of what you’re given.
Know your Shovels – Best Shovels
Shovels are your first and foremost priority in Dig It. The type of loot you receive, their rarity, weight, value as well as the digging difficulty are all dictated by your Shovel. So, your first goal as a beginner should be save your Doolars and progress through the various Shovels you can buy.
To help you get a better idea of what is the best Shovel to keep, you can check out our Shovel Land List for Dig It. Additionally, it’s also important to know the location of each Shovel, so you can view all Shovel locations in Dig It Up as well.
Take advantage of Benson’s Salary Rewards
One important feature that you will often see as a beginner at Dig It is Benson’s Salary Rewards. These are basically crate rewards that you can claim for being online for an extended period of time. Now, although you might think that they are not so great in the beginning, but instead, you can get a lot of value from them.
The best part of these rewards is the free save mount while the 2x EXP gain increases for 15 minutess. While the mount can help travel through islands more easily, the double EXP boost can help you level up significantly faster.
Make the most of Events – Best Events
While playing Dig It, you will see that various events happen continuously after regular time intervals. These events are extremely profitable and can give you a a ton of treasures, EXP, and access to some of the best Shovels as well.
Currently, there is six events which occur, namely the Colossal Worm Event, Shooting Stars Event, Ion Shovel Event, Lunar Cloud Event, Meteor Event and the Woolly Mammoth Event. But between these events, the best for beginners are these:
- Lunar Cloud Event: Provide access to the Lunar Cloud Region where you can get tons of EXP from digging up items. Moreover, you can also buy the Moon Shovel, which is a bit affordable compared to other event Shovels.
- Shooting Stars Event: During the Shooting Star events, you will see several stars falling from the sky near you. Mining them will give you items with modifiers, and lots of EXP. This can be a little tricky at first, but you’ll get the hang of it quickly.
While the others are not bad by any means, but require much higher level Shovels and expertise to extract value. So, for starters, you should focus on the above two events.
Use the Bank and Backpacks Generously – Storage Guide
Getting your hands on loot may seem easy at first, but as you progress, you will quickly run out of storage. While this may seem like a minor inconvenience at first, it eventually becomes a major problem, especially during limited-time events if you run out of storage space.
There are only two ways you can deal with this problem, whether to buy the ‘Sell From Anywhere’ Game pass item with Robux, or upgrade your backpack. While the former option is unfavorable for most players, the latter is essential to progress towards the late game.
So, the order in which you should buy bags in Dig It is as follows:
- Bling Pack: Costs only 750 Dollars and requires level 5 or higher. Provides 10 additional inventory slots. Located near Banker in Nookville.
- Coffin Backpack: Costs 25,000 Dollars and requires level 25 or higher. Provides 30 additional inventory slots. Can be found in Badlands.
- Nuke Backpack: Costs 65,000 Dollars and requires level 50 or higher. Provides 60 additional inventory slots. Can be found in Nookville behind.
If you can’t afford the next backpack and still run out of space, put your extra items in the bank to save them for later and enjoy a clean inventory.
Spend Your Dollars Wisely – A Guide to Spending
With so many different ways to spend your money in Dig It, it can be difficult to keep track of your spending if you don’t prioritize your finances correctly. So, to make sure you don’t run out of money, here’s the order in which you should spend in Dig It:
- Shovels: Shovels should be yours first spending priority. Once you’ve bought a mid-level Shovel, you can then buy a better backpack. But, receiving a advanced Shovel should be your only goal.
- Backpacks: While as important as Shovels, buy the A coffin bag should last you a long time. Only upgrade after you regularly start running out of space.
- Boats: Boats are the last place you would want to spend your money. Buy the first one for 1,000 Dollar should last you the majority of the game. After sorting out your Shovel and Bag, then you can upgrade.
- Consumables: Finally, you can spend on consumables like Magnets or Treasure Scanners, but only during events like the Colossal Worm or Wolly Mammoth event, when there is instead a chance of high rarities.
Best dig map in Dig It
Once you have your priorities sorted, you should then focus on the core aspect of the game, digging. But, even when digging, you should choose the best map rather than wasting your time on maps without good loot. So, here is the best map to dig in Dig It:
- piratesburg: This map, especially the area inside the cave, can consistently help you get Legendary and Mythical rarities. Piratesburg also has some of the best drops in Dig It, making it the best map for beginners. Industrial Shovel or higher is recommended.
Other maps are not as good as Badlands has a low Legendary drop chance, Permafrost has a higher difficulty and Greek Temple doesn’t have any Mythic drops. You can go to the Moon Cloud map, but only when it is available.
Don’t overspend on Boats
As mentioned in the spending guide, don’t spend your precious Dollars on buying boats. Apart from cosmetics, there are almost no tangible advantage between buying the 1,000 Dollar Wooden Boat and the 40,000 Dollar Speedster. Only upgrade to higher level boats after you have unlocked the highest level Shovel and Bag.
Learn to use the Loot Pit
The Robbery Pit is one of the most confusing mechanics in Dig It. Most players tend to avoid this as there is a chance that your loot may not improve. But, the advantage of getting upgraded loot, or ones with modifiers and mutations can be quite significant. So, you should definitely take advantage of the Loot Pit, and get the most value out of it.
Find and use Items – Magnets, Scanners and more
