The earliest Ashes of War you can get in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is the Shout of Sorrow Ashes of War. This Ashes of War is located east of the Small Private Altar Site of Grace in Belurat, Tower Settlementwhere you can go right after you start the DLC.

From the Grace, go up the stairs and you’ll see a double soldier wandering around. Go straight to the ruins and you will see a large entrance to an area. When you enter the area, you will see a tree in the middle. The Ashes of War is located on top of a body that deflates behind the tree.

Cry of Sorrow Ashes of War Details and How to Use

The Scream of Sorrow grants an increase to your attack power based on the amount of your health, for 40 seconds. The lower the health, the more attack power you will have. For example, when it is used, at 100% health, you attack power will increase by 12.5%, while at 30% health or less, you attack power will increase by 27.5%.

It is recommended that you use this before a boss fight as it can provide a great attack power boost early on when low on health. The best way to do this is to use Seppuku continuously to get to 30% health with one weapon and then use the Shout of Sorrow with your favorite. Afterwards, heal up and you’ll still get the 27.5% attack power boost for 40 seconds.
