Choosing your units carefully is important, as skill inheritance plays a huge role in Wizardry Variants Daphne. This game mechanic allows your main character to inherit the abilities of other units in the squad, making you much stronger. Of course, attackers will always have priority and healing units for any team. Like some of the best Gacha games, choosing the right characters is essential to success.

Tier Units
S Adam, Alice, Deborah, Ekaterina, Wandering Lanavaille
A Gerluf, Girard, Lanavaille, Marianne
B Barbara, Benjamin, Chloe, Elysee, Gandolfo, Valdor
C Amelia, Dino, Eckart, Flute, Milana

S Tier – Main Attackers

The following S-tier units have boosted skill and stat growth, making them the most desirable choices from the very beginning.

Unit forces Weaknesses
Deborah Self-control skills allow you to increase your stats, starting from Level 1, and attack power from Level 2. Starting from Level 4, this unit also recovers SP when defeating an enemy. Recovers only a few points of SP when defeating enemies.
Alice Best unit for skill inheritance, increasing its strength and MP already at Level 1. Starting from Level 2, you can also increase her Divine Power, allowing you to use many debuff spells. Skill enhancements slow down even at higher levels.
Ekaterina Denies detection and surprise attacks, which is great for running dungeons. A very good unit for boosting allies while improving its stats at Level 1 and increasing MP at Level 2. Not the best unit for skill inheritance.
Adam This unit has a passive ability that permanently reduces MP consumption. His ability, which ignores elemental compatibility, can be inherited, allowing you to negate damage reduction for incompatible elements. Requires a constant damage increase for proper leveling.
Wandering Lanavaille Possesses unique abilities that increase her HP and resistance to critical hits. When using light armor and a one-handed sword, her speed will be higher than that of a regular Lanavaille. Loses most of her benefits if she wears heavy armor.

A Tier – Large Support Units

Support units should always be prioritized over extra offense or defense due to their many valuable skill and stat recovery abilities.

Unit forces Weaknesses
Girard Girard’s self-control abilities increase his evasion and speed. If you equip him with a one-handed sword, his evasion increases even more, making him a good tank. Loses power if caused negative effects.
Lanavaille Regular Lanavaille heals faster after each win, which allows her to last longer than other units. She is also immune to negative effects, such as Charm and Confusion. If she inherits abilities, their stats are halved.
Gerluf Gerluf’s passive ability constantly increases his attack power. At Level 2, his critical hits get some major boost. Overall, it is a very strong DPS unit. Slow movement speed.
Marianne A solid healer with poison recovery abilities. If you guide her, her recovery skills will become even stronger. Also, her self-control abilities boost her MP, allowing you to cast spells more often. Low damage and self defense.

B Tier – Decent Offense and Support

If your team has more room for an extra unit or two, consider some of these characters to enhance whatever skills you want to inherit.

Unit forces Weaknesses
Barbara If the chosen class is a Knight, this unit gets increased HP and SP reduction, allowing you to use your attacks more often. Not a good unit for skill inheritance.
Gandolf When this unit inherits abilities, its SP consumption is reduced, resulting in more frequent attacks. His self-control abilities also increase his overall hit rate. Only effective when using heavy weaponry.
Elysium Buffs all allies standing in front and behind her. This makes herself and her team well protected. Works only with neutral units.
Chloe If the Warrior class is chosen, she can increase the number of uses for her abilities. Becomes particularly strong if she inherits the abilities of attacker units. Requires high SP consumption.
Benjamin A unit with high attack and defense power. Starts with very high HP, making him a solid tank, and it can also be increased further. Limited in terms of application beyond tanking.
Valdoro If this unit inherits abilities from Vanguard or Thief, he will increase the defensive power of one line of allies. Good both as monk or knight class. Weak support spells when playing as a Monk.

C Tier – Specialized Units

Some C-level units have very narrow fields of application, such as specific roles within dungeons, so don’t ignore them even if they don’t fit your team perfectly.

Unit Forces Weaknesses
Milan Can quickly and effectively detect traps. Has high Wisdom and Dexterity stats. Works much better as a Mage class. Requires skill inheritance for an effective Thief playstyle.
Flute Increases the fire resistance of all allies. Has high Wisdom and MP stats, making it a great Mage class. Works only with water-type units.
Eckart A decent Knight unit with high HP from the start. Also possesses a high Dexterity stat, which allows him to use both one-handed and two-handed swords. Has low Weak resistance.
Dino When played as a Mage class, is able to counter magic spells more effectively when inheriting abilities. Not very effective as a Thief class.
Amelia Useful in dungeons to detect and disarm traps. Has high wind damage tolerance. Requires thief skill to be effective.
