Wuthering Waves: Best ways to spend the Waveplate (WP) early game.
Like most gacha games, Wuthering Waves uses an energy system that uses a refill currency called a Waveplate. It can be used to farm for Resonator and weapon EXP Potions, rare Echoes, Shell Credits and upgrade materials. This is the best way to manage your Wave Plates in the early game.
How to use Waveplates Wuthering Waves
Every major resource in Wuthering Waves can be farmed from various Training Grounds, Tacet Fields, and other instance-based dungeons that cost Waveplates to claim rewards. Each Wave Plate you spend will also reward you with Union EXP, which, in turn, levels up your SOL3 Phase (equivalent to Genshin Impact’s World Level).
You naturally will refill one Waveplate every six minutesbut you can only hold a maximum of 240 Waveplates simultaneously. If you’re impatient, you can also use one Crystal Solution or 60 Astrite to refill 60 Wave Plates instantly. Since Astrites are better reserved for Convene pulls, your best bet is to wait for Waveplates to replenish over time.
It is generally considered a waste to leave your Waveplate count at 240, as the idle time could be used to refill more. As a new player, don’t be afraid to use your Wave Plates liberally to speed up progression!
How to spend Waveplates as a beginner in Wuthering Waves
In the early game, your main goal is progress as quickly as possible by increasing your SOL3 Phase. Doing so increases the difficulty of the game but also unlocks high-rarity rewards. So instead of beating the bosses in the Tacet Fields, which you probably can’t beat without some Resonator upgrades, focus your first few days on farming the Simulation Training Camp in Jinzhou.
The Simulation Training Center allows you to farm Resonance Potions (for Resonator EXP), Energy Cores (for weapon EXP), and Shell Credits. The EXP materials will be very useful for upgrading your core team. In the early game, every level counts, and you’ll get more value from farming these materials versus going to the Tacet Fields, which will only drop low-level Echoes at this point.
Even when you spend all your Waveplates on EXP materials, don’t waste them on random Resonators. Be careful who you build and save some for upcoming banners you might be interested in. Once your characters can no longer level up without boss materials, start going to Tacet Fields to farm only for materials you need.
