XDefiant web coding issues appear worse than ever after the latest patch

Popular free-to-play shooter XDefiant released a patch over the weekend that addressed issues with weapon progression and missing kill confirmation sounds, and finally brought in a classic Team Deathmatch mode. But the game’s notoriously poor track record and network code issues persist.

Developer Ubisoft has announced that leveling primary weapons in XDefiant will now be twice as fast, taking only 1500XP. The same goes for secondary weapons, which will require 500XP before you hear that familiar level up.

The all-time classic Team Deathmatch mode also arrived in the shooter over the weekend after much anticipation. Although the game is only a month old, fans have already spoken about what new guns and modes they would like to see added to the game down the road. So the arrival of TDM is sure to please many hardcore FPS fans who plan to invest a lot of time in Ubisoft’s latest title.

XDefiant web codes and hit control issues continue and seem to be worse than ever

But easily the biggest issue plaguing the game over the last month has been its buggy online code, leading to poor or completely incorrect log recording. This naturally caused severe frustration among the player base who expected much better from a AAA competitive online shooter.

I seem to be one of the lucky few who have been blessed to not experience such glaring network coding issues, although there have certainly been occasions where I’ve had to do a double take and wonder what the hell just happened during a firefight.

These moments weren’t frequent enough to ruin the whole experience for me, though there’s definitely a lack of overall responsiveness in the game that makes me wish for a kill cam feature so I can make sure I don’t go crazy. There is still a slight but perceptible disconnect between my in-game actions and their effects on the in-game world that simply isn’t present in other competitors like Apex Legends or The Finals.

And with such nasty examples of crashed recording as in the example above, it’s hard to argue with the complaints of the XDefiant community – even if my experience wasn’t that bad. Although it seems that the developers still earn quite a bit goodwill from the community when it comes to new content and weapon progression balance, Ubisoft needs to fix this network code as soon as possible before players start driving in droves.
