A new Shovel Knight is coming and, no, it’s not another port
Shovel Knight is one of those famous franchises with endless remasters and remakes like Mario Kart 8 and GTA 5. And while there is a definitive edition coming out, we are actually getting a brand new Shovel Knight.
Shovel Knight is getting a sequel after 10 years
During a special edition of Yacht Club Games presents, a live streamed event that celebrates the 10th anniversary of Shovel Knight being released for the 3DS/Wii U, the dev said that “a brand new mainstream Shovel Knight game” is in the works.
While the announcement came without a title or even a teaser, they did say that we might find clues scattered throughout the previous campaigns.
For example, the history of Polar Knight and Shovel Knight could finally be some light. After all, what this guy meant when he said “I meant what I said. You should still join us.”
Play a definitive edition of Shovel Knight while you wait
As a way to encourage more people to get into the series before the sequel comes out, Yacht Club Games has announced the arrival of Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX. They call it the “definitive edition of Shovel of Hope.”
“It’s our way of preserving the historical functionality of the game, ensuring that these elements remain available for future generations of players.”
If you haven’t played Shovel Knight before and enjoy pixel side adventure games, this is the perfect one to get. In addition to improved graphics, the game also boasts a number of new features such as online multiplayer, more than 20 playable characters and changeable “cheats”.
