A second round of Kar98K nerfs has Warzone fans divided

Warzone fans were frothing at the mouth to get their hands on the Kar98k and Activision finally answered those prayers by adding it to MW3 in Season 4. Now that players have had the chance to relive their Verdansk days, fandom is divided on the weapon.

A post on the Call of Duty Warzone subreddit appeared to announce upcoming nerfs for the Kar98k and by extension the popular Superi 46 SMG. As soon as the fans heard the news, an all-out war broke out in the comments with half of the players excited to see less Kars running around, while the others are excited by the constant changes.

The first comment on the thread is a happy camper exclaiming that the Kar98k will no longer 2-shot anywhere to the body. Their information is slightly off because two bullets in the upper torso will result in a down, while anything lower will leave the enemy on a sliver of HP. This is still enough that players are happy with the changes.

On the other hand, there are many fans in the comments upset that the Kar98k is under constant fire from Activision despite bringing many players the most fun they’ve had in Warzone since its rework. One player commented on the “stupidity” of the community, saying that the vast majority of players have been begging for the Kar98k, but now they want the weapon nerfed or removed entirely.

Personally, I enjoy the Kar98k as it may be the best weapon in terms of feel and overall playability. I won’t deny that it’s way too strong at the moment, but it made Warzone a touch more playable. That said, I see both sides of the argument. While the Kar98k may not be able to shoot 1.2 kilometers away, its mid-range dueling potential is unmatched by any weapon in Warzone and I enjoy the power vacuum it fills.

Even on Twitter fans are divided when they hear the news. In response to @Warzone_Loadout’s tweet, many commenters are either hailing the Kar nerf as ‘W’ or ‘L’ depending on which side of the fence they were sitting on.

“Doesn’t seem like a huge nerf to the Kar? 8m less range and 40m/s speed loss? Still going to freak people out, right?” writes ‘Laughs’. Meanwhile, “Ty” thinks the nerf was a mistake, saying, “Why nerf the Kar? Just buff ARs.”

It is clear that there are many players divided by the Kar98k nerfs, but regardless, these changes are here to stay (at least for a while).
