Magic Thread is one of the few crafting materials in Fisch. Knowing where to find this material and how to use it can make a world of difference. In this guide, I’ll walk you through all the methods to get Magic Thread, the best places to grab it, and what you can craft with it at the Ancient Archives.
Where to Find Magic Thread in Fisch
Magic Thread isn’t easy to come by, but persistence and a little strategy can make the grind more manageable. While you can technically find it anywhere, some places seem to have better results in my personal experience.
Fishing for Magic Thread
Fishing is the most common way to get Magic Thread. However, it is not guaranteed, and it could take some time. To optimize your chances, I recommend using a Mythical Wand with Bagel baitbecause this arrangement gave the best results for me. Here are the places where I had the most success:

Treasure Chests
Another way to find Magic Thread is through Treasure Chests, but this method is far from guaranteed. Here’s what you need to know:
- Find a Treasure Map. These are rare and can only be obtained by fishing.
- Decrypt the Map. Go to Jack Marrow on the Forsaken Shore to have him fill in the missing coordinates on your map.
- Find the Chest. Equip a GPS (available from Moosewood) to pinpoint the location of the chest.
- Open the Chest. Even with all this effort, there is only a 16% chance that the chest will contain a Magic Thread.
While Treasure Chests offer a possible alternative, the odds do fishing a more reliable option altogether.
What is Magic Thread Used for in Fisch
Magic Thread is a manufacturing material used exclusively at the Ancient Archivesa hidden place under the Ancient Island. You will need this yarn to craft some of the craftable fishing rods in Fisch. Here is a complete list of staffs you can craft, along with their requirements:

How to Access the Ancient Archives
To craft any of these sticks, you’ll need to unlock the Ancient Archivesa hidden area behind a waterfall in the Ancient Island. Here’s how to enter:
- Collect the Four Fragments. The Ancient Shard, Solar Shard, Earth Shard, and Deep Sea Shard.
- Team up with Three Other Players. Each player must place one fragment into the corresponding statue around the Ancient Archive entrance.
- Rotate the Statues During an Eclipse. The statues can only be rotated during an Eclipse event. To trigger this, you will need Eclipse Totemwhich costs 250,000 C$ and is found in the same cave as the Phoenix Rod on the Ancient Island.
- Activate the Pressure Plates: After the fragments are placed, make sure each player is standing on their pressure plate, and that they have rotated their statues until they are facing inside.
- Enter the Archives. With the puzzle solved, the gates will open, revealing the crafting station in the center of the Ancient Archives.
While farming for Magic Thread can be time consuming, it is worth the effort for the rewards it unlocks. Prioritize fishing hotspots like Moosewood Docks and Ancient Isles Waterfall to maximize your chances. If you’re looking for other rare crafting materials, consider Snowcap Island as well.
